Wow this is a total derailment topic
Sorry, I just noticed. Ask me about how a thread gets silent
if there are any (nationalistic) Greek folks on the forum, they’ll be happy to explain. Although to them it’s still the republic of Skopje probably. Coming close to politics here so I better watch out what I say.
Jeez, I need to have a look at a modern day map.!..
I’m rising through the ranks, imma be chasing your position
I was traumatised by SPSS during my uni years, already computer era. Can’t even imagine doing that with punch cards
You must be a god of some sort LOL
Ah punch cards!! Remember computer rooms? Mainframes? I used to love the first computer games…and writing them in ASCII…then DOS…if not, then…ha!
<Turn left
>You see a sword
<Pick up the sword
>A troll appears
In case I dropped the box of cards, I penciled on the card # on each one!
Haha.
However, I do have a goal for the next 6 months: flag, mute, ignore
@SassyRocks and @SinceIAwoke does all this babble predate the Commodore 64? The card catalogue at the library?
And how is this the hottest thread going?
Drama nonsense drama nonsense…
If you keep a shirt/top on, it’ll be fine, no flags required
I had a RadioShack TRS 80, with no monitor ( it hooked up to the TV) and a cassette tape drive for programs. Around the same time, I started university and my card punch studies.
When I was teaching computer applications, we used the library card catalog as our example for database programming! It is an excellent and simple example of how to set up a relational, normalized third form system. EF Codd was our hero.
Ahhhhh…Those were the days! The volume in those rooms!
Lol, yes, before the Commodore.
I love it! Confession: attempts to draw boundaries with my sibs started when I card-catalogued my bookshelf at home in grade school. They were older, so didn’t care, but still!
And our Gr.6 class was the first in the city to take a weekly trip to the university to see the computer in a room there - and apparently we wrote a program that counted from 1-10, but mostly I liked the blinking square cursor and wanted to play pong…
lol! lord yes!
Hi Beth. I love you. That is all.
Meh. I beg to differ
