I actually think the mythology around Unicorns is that they get sacrificed pretty often. Or, better said, they sacrifice themselves. Not sure what anyone wants to read into that, but food for thought.

I remember the tail end of DOS, circa late 90s.
I also remember Apple being a brand hanging on for dear life, only surviving by production studios., no one wanted a Mac, now they are taking over amazing what 20 some years will do

Unicorns were said to be almost impossible to catch without a lure (a virgin maiden). They were wanted and hunted by the rich, who would saw off their horn where the unicornās powers were believed to be.
When the myth was adopted into Christianity in the middle ages, unicorn hunt was depicted as an allegory of the Passion of the Christ, sacrificing himself for mankind.
Unicorns were a symbol of innocence, purity, grace, chaste love and faithful marriage.
