If yes say how much?
First 6 months, yep. Walking and sticking to the keto I lost about 40 pounds.
Then I finally developed the sweet tooth, and I gained 20 back and have maintained there since pretty much.
You got goals?
Well I’m sober 3days now but I managed to loose 2 stones since 2018 (when I was drinking) but I hope that I will lose additional 2stones easily especially that I started working recently and it’s very hard job;)
I hope that I be fit and sober
I was on slimming world and now I’m counting calories and im walking 10-18 steps a day .Today I walked 12kilometers;)
I was the opposite of @CaptAZ…of course I am a post menopausal woman, so there is that. I lost maybe 5 lbs when I first quit, but I indulged my sweet tooth (with zero regrets).
I did not lose weight because I replaced alcohol with food. Now I’m a year sober and just starting to address my eating issues. I suggest guarding your sobriety above all else until you’re solidly sober. Then worry about losing weight. But that’s just a suggestion.
That’s all I did. I did no real working out or calorie counting, I just clocked like 20000-25000 steps a day and ate keto. My walking was a part of my early sobriety, I needed walks to reflect, and get my head straight cause I was an angry person and they helped cool me off, give me perspective. I went from 275 to 236 pounds in about 4 months, and walked through the soles of 3 pairs of shoes
Woow that’s impressive 20-25 k steps it’s lots!
I’m glad that I’m working in hotel so I can go to spa/ gym whenever I want and I can just do something good instead of destroying myself.
It was. I walked a lot. I needed every step some days. Walked just walk, walked to the store to get my food, spent my breaks walking, walked to meetings.
36000 was my highest step count in 1 day. It played a vital role in grounding me for sure. And when I saw that I could lose weight without killing my legs and back, I was all the more game to keep that train rolling.
I did, I lost 15 pounds, but there’s an asterisk.
*I began to eat better and worked out daily.
I assumed that since alcohol had a lot of calories that I’d naturally lose weight, but the reality was that when I drank, I didn’t really eat much, it would ruin my buzz. When I quit drinking, I ate, a lot! So I ate better and worked out.
I’ve pretty much gained it back since COVID. Guess I’m destined for Dad bod…
Another asterisk, I’m in my 40s, 10 years ago I was skinny, it all caught up to me.
Yea. I am down 40 lbs.
Lost around 30lbs in the first 8 months. There were only 2 changes. I stopped drinking and I started eating anything that wasn’t nailed down. No idea why I lost so much.
Unfortunately, I’m nearly back to where I was (and I’d bought smaller clothes ).
I guess I’ll have to start watching what I eat, and get my potato-shaped butt off my potato-shaped couch. Not today though. Probably not tomorrow either
Just managing my own expectations
That doesn’t sound weird to me at all. I really like to eat healthy and stay active, but at the same time I’d have benders and pour a ton of alcohol into my system. I can be so focused on my physical health and then do something completely unhealthy. Definitely counterproductive.
I usually lose weight when I stop drinking, but that’s because I’m able to stay consistent with nutrition and exercise.
When I would drink that was all out the window. I’d barely get off the couch or out of bed. I’d just have fast food delivered to my house. Cleaning up all the beer cans and Taco Bell wrappers was an eye opening experience.
No, it doesn’t sound weird at all. It is amazing how we can delude ourselves. I used to drink, do coke, smoke cigarettes and I was running and eating healthy…lord!
Gained weight.
I’m down 45 pounds but I worked on it. And maintaining.
Rehab food was good and 90 days straight of it… started then at 180, left rehab at 192, 3 yrs later I’m at 177. With walks only, good eating habits: type and amount and minimal to no soda. Just me.
Thats how im going about it
I am still the same 16 days sober as I eat more chocolate and sweet stuff.
I gain weight when I quit. I don’t eat when I drink so I get very underweight. I’m getting up to normal now
