I’ve lost 30 pounds between becoming sober, getting divorced, and working a short part time job where I was walking 10 miles a day. Almost 10 months in and i’m maintaining. I was a rum & coke girl…so I drank most of my calories.
Same here.
Gained weight, chocolate my downfall
I do agree.
I lost approximately 35 pounds and have kept it off for five and a half years now. Like CaptAZ I did it by walking. When I first quit drinking I didn’t lose weight as I just sat on my sofa and ate pounds of sugary foods but around the six month sober mark I started walking with a Fitbit. Started at 10k steps a day, quickly upped that to 12 and then 18k steps or more a day which I’ve kept up over the last five and a half years. The walking resulted in fast changes to my body which made me feel wonderful and helped keep me sober because I didn’t want to go back to what I was before: literally growing myself bigger on a barstool.
Down 50 pounds the first year. I weighed roughly 205 when I was arrested March 19 2019. I am currently 155. The first 6-8 months the weight just melted off. I guess not drinking 10,000 calories of beer and bourbon on top of living on bar food makes a difference . I look and feel 1000x better.
Ha ha me too.
Ha. I did about the same.
Lost over 50 pounds when I quit.
Then I put back on 20 pounds over the last year or so. Funny thing is now I feel fat
Yes, since sobriety I lost 20 pounds. Been sober almost 6 months
Ha!! Not a single ounce. Food helped me get through the cravings.
BUT I have lost 10 pounds this past winter, but it was thanks to WW, not quitting alcohol.
Lost about 9 lbs since I quit drinking 26 days ago. Just been working out and eating right.
I didn’t have a regular appetite when drinking so was super slim. I ate maybe 1 meal a day. And when I quit drinking, my appetite came back plus I started eating 1 block of chocolate every night, for over a year I’ve stacked on 15kg over the past 2 years but do exercise regularly and take better care of what I put into my body. I think hitting my 40s and the whole hormone/metabolism change has also contributed to the rounder edges
So far, no I haven’t, I think I’m less bloated looking. I am eating more sweets now that I quit drinking.
Totally.
I lost almost 40 lbs. From 200 down to 160. Watch out though, if you get a sweet tooth it’ll creep back up on ya fast.
Best of luck.
Keep up the good work.
I lost 20 kg in the 1st year, gained 2 again trying to quit smoking now ,
I couldn’t find a scale photo from July of 2019 which is my sobriety month anniversary. However, I found one I took at the gym on June 8th 2018. I took the 134 pound picture today! I’m officially at my goal weight (135).
I’d like to believe that when I quit drinking, It played a role on my weight loss. I cleaned up my diet alot over the past year though.
Great job Shay consistent hard work pays off
October 2019 I was 264 lbs, today I’m 221.2 lbs, most of this has just come from quitting drinking, there are so many empty calories in drinking its easy to pack weight on without really trying to. Some of it is diet but letting go helped me see I’m becoming who I wanted to be through hard work and commitment.
I stopped drinking 5 months ago. I’ve stopped 50lbs. My diet sucks right now but it keeps coming off. It’s insane to think just how much control booze had in my life.
I’m finding that I’m craving sugar now that the alcohol is gone. I need to start back on keto.
