These cost about 50 bucks to make the 2. She got the hardware on amazon, they’ve gone down in price a bunch from when I first looked at them, she got an 8 foot bypass kit for about 90 bucks. Nothing fancy.
The Kreg R3. It’s handy item, I’ve used mine probably 100 times, only replaced the drill/auger bit in that time.
I’ve always loved the board and batten look, so my husband and I did this project in the mud room off the garage. Other than some touch up paint and styling it, we’re finally done. I’m looking forward to the extra storage in this space.
Damn that looks professional, and also like an extremely efficient and effective use of some pocket space. Very nicely done.
I can’t recommend it enough, it does a fantastic job without complication and so easy to use.
No worries when using it on a hardwood, 2x material or plywood, but when using it on 1x pine, care needs to be taken, pine is so soft it’ll split on the receiving piece if over done.
I’ll be getting the k5 or k4 if my r3 ever breaks, or just because lol. Leave the r3 in my pack out crate and secure the k4/5 to the work bench
Thanks David! We were high-end home builders for 12 years, so we better know what we’re doing. The only thing I would do differently is to add a thin sheet of backer board over the sheet rock, because it’s textured. Other than that, I’m enjoying it.
Those small things that usually only you notice, too late now though
I’m a crackpot take all the short cuts, do it cheap builder
Yep, yep I was trying to go a lesser expensive route, since building products are totally ridiculous right now. I have a second mud room that’s more visible to guests, so when I update that one, it’s gonna get backer board.
Starting the bench for the hobby room. I have built a handful of benches over the years…never cared how they looked, as they were in the garage.
Ms. Monkey wants it inside in the “hobby” room. Hope this will hit the aesthetic she is after…
Can’t wait to see the finished project.
On hold, my weekend schedule got all mucked up…next few days hopefully get it started.
I’m going to find photos of the benches we built this summer and post them. We did one for extra seating on the patio, and we built an 8’ long picnic table with detached benches. That turned out awesome! By the end of summer, my husband was like, “Please! No more!”
Incredible transformation!! You’re pretty handy around the house. Mrs T is lucky to have you.
I enjoy doing these projects with her
I see hearts and am feeling the love in this remodel!
OK you guys!! I finally get to contribute to my own thread!
Today I took on my first new house project besides organizing stuff and painting a room. When I moved in, my office was BRIGHT pink…I painted it immediately the first week a light gray color. I bought more paint today, my burgundy livingroom will be going to a very light “ivory” color on my vacation a week from now.
So, I totally may get laughed out of here but it’s my thread so I really don’t mind.
I totally changed out my own toilet today! I’ve never ever done this before. And it intimidated me so in the 5 months I have lived here I had left well enough alone, even though my mom bought me a new one before I even closed on the house. However, the old one broke this week. It was time to stop procrastinating!
Plumbing scares me, I loathe it after the nightmares in the old house with it. But this went OK! It took me all day and a trip to home depot in the middle but I totally did it! I’m super stoked. Again, I’m capable of more than I give myself credit for if I just try instead of being scared. Yay! Yay for new experiences, yay for a toilet that flushes when you move the lever and yay for a tall toilet that makes even my feet dangle in the air instead of a super short one lol. I’m tall, it makes me feel like a little kid. It’s the little things that make my heart happy.
Finished a little project today and I’m loving it! My front powder room never had a backsplash, because I was going back and forth on whether I even wanted one. I’m so glad I decided to do one.
