Just gorgeous Charlie!!
Love all your projects @Thirdmonkey !
I got so many going onā¦lol, always something in progress. Today, I am off, I am getting some oldā¦really huge, metal cabinetsā¦taking the doors off and making them into raised garden beds for next year.
Looking forward to seeing it!!
Looks like itās ready for some climbing vines! Itās really cool, and quite pro looking.
Not bad for a couple of Ametures! Ms. Monkey and I work pretty well together! Dont know about the climbing vinesā¦
The older I get, the less I like gutting anything. Especially plaster and lathe! Stupid old house! By the way if you can see the pipe that is a 3/8" gas line that I think was for gas lighting.
Iām curious, how high are the ceilings if you have room to raise the floor level that much?
A replacement that needs to be done maybe every 10 years. Cut a post from a tree limb, install a platform, dig a post hole, then set it all up and mount the mail and newspaper boxes.

Been doing a bunch of work on our little trailer. Knocking out a bathroom here. Learned how to do carpet, done 4 rooms, trimmed and painted them. Gonna try and sell it and get into a larger house as itās not enough space for the 6 of us. Thankful to the little place for its cheap living and teaching me a lot of how to work on things.
How wonderful!! I always admire and appreciate your work. Exciting to be looking for a new place, I hope you find the perfect spot.
And remember, if you need a working vacation in beautiful NC, I have comfortable free lodging for you!!!
Weāre working on it, found plenty of nice places, enjoying the process and walking through places.
1450 sq ft is just smaller than we can handle with 6 people now
Yes, that would be challenging for sure. The process can be a lot of funā¦eyeing the bones vs potential. Keep us posted!!!
One of the kids sent demolishin materials into the front window 2.5 years ago when I first started āre-organizingā the trailer, and it cracked. Left it that way, eventually covered the insider with drywall when we Redid the living room wall. Finally looked for the specific trailer skin so I could eliminate the window from the outside and get rid of the broken unusable window. 2 hours later, itās ready for paint.
Meanwhile Iāve also started on the main bathroom which has been utterly neglected like most of the rear living space lol. I had to redo a bunch of subfloor when I demolished and reorganized the trailer before we moved in and I didnāt do the best job of getting a level floorā¦ hell I spent a week on that bathroom cause I didnāt have a clue of what I was doing so I was happy to have a walkable floor. Iāve done a self leveling pour and now have a decent floor to do our cheap peel and stick on and can get to the rest of the bathroom.
Only getting like 2-3 hours of work done a day sucks! Takes forever when you work and then come home tired and have a list longer than great wall of China to doā¦ but weāre getting there.
Weāve bought at trailer that āneeds TLCā, but itās smaller, 800 square feet. We need to do exterior doors, window mouldings, rip up the little bit of carpet that remains, install a furnace (seller is paying for that) before my son can move in, and loads of other stuff after that. Stay tuned for pix! My sonās a great guy but getting him back out of the house is a high priority!
Gotta love the cheap square footage!
If itās like all the trailers I know, replace those doors with mobile specific doors or reframe that puppy to get a regular door in it.
Good tip, I didnāt know that was a thing!
Hardly DIY, but until I own a house again (next summer ) thisāll do.
Supposed to be a dining area, but like any self-respecting bachelor, I eat on the couch.
Started off with the futon for when my Mom came to visit and help me after surgery in April.
Since then, Iāve turned it into a nice little sitting area.
For my first 9-10 months here, this spot was just empty with no ideas on what to do with it.
