DIY Home Projects

Lights and cabinet doors mounted. Need to clean up some wire, make drawer fronts, install handles, likely going with some fasade brand backsplash for behind the stove, pot and pan hanging rack coming today and that’ll be installed to the left of the vent hood.

So happy with the can lights in the kitchen and chandelier light over the table. The cans produce a lot of light, I had reservations if 6 would do it but they do it and do it well.

Who ever did the remodel in my house over did the cans! There’s 12 in the living area and 6 more in the tiny kitchen. And yes, there is such thing as Too much light!

Built this the other day from old fence boards that were in the yard.
Made wifey happy

That’s the type of thing I like! Grabbing old wood or scraps from the wood pile and making something useful!

Yeah, I thought 6 wouldn’t do the trick after watching some install videos and seeing their “spacing”. We went with the standard of like 2 feet from the wall and then no more than half the distance of the roof height apart. We have really low ceilings in this old trailer, only 91", so they’re about 3 3/4’ apart. Cheap laser level made lining them up easy peasy.

I love the way the space looks now, wifey just gets caught looking and staring at it so I think I did good.

Ha. The laser is the key. You can also tell the guy that did these cans did not use a laser.

@Mephistopheles found some cheap peel and stick on Amazon, easy peasy lemon squeezy and I personally think it looks fantastic

Little accent on around the “front” door to match the kitchen. It was kind of spur of the moment and just start, so I didn’t get a good picture unfortunately.

Now it needs paint, all the paint :rofl:

Could also use a new door, cause this one is wonky as hell

I love finding used stuff that’s still perfectly functional! I have the wife surf the Facebook market place all the time, I cruise offer up pretty much daily. Tons of treasures out there.

Looks good man. Why the hell can’t you hook it up? Here in AZ you can pretty much do anything to your own place if you do it yourself, permits and code inspection are for the pros.

It was fairly easy. The 2 of us had fun. She now has plans for every room, her deck, and I could see the wheels turning on some other projects.

Hell yeah, love the cabin feel.

What did you use? Nailed up? My wheels are constantly turning on this stuff

A nail gun is a must have, even just a small brad gun. Mine has been indispensable, got it around Christmas on sale, probably put 2000 nails through it with nary a hiccup.

This was a combo pack…a Dewalt air compressor and 2 different size nail guns on sale for 150 bucks…please, take my money

That’ll probably be my next buy, is a pancake and 2-3 nailer combo. I love my Ryobi battery brad nailer, but I’m finding myself needing to shoot bigger and longer nails all the time. And you’re right about the compressor, good for tires and just general blowing dirt and shavings off the work piece!

Damn @Thirdmonkey now that’s a deal. Dewalt is a very reputable brand. Cheapest I’ve seen is 280 for a craftsman pancake and 3 gun set.

Had made 6 shelves that we planned on putting on the wall. Well stud placement and wires and vent pipe running up the wall changed that. Ended up only 2 of the 5 footers. Got a pot/pan rack for the other side to fill space and add storage.

Took the extra 5’ shelf and made a new bench for the table because the old one was warpy scratching the flooring. 2 2x4s, couple coats of poly later

Trim and outlet covers finally getting attention

Same here. I found some real nice hidden shelf hardware, could’ve gone that route but the wife and I both love the pipe look. It’ll probably be dated in a year, everything changes but for now, I adore it
