Im 1 day 7hr 30mins off pain medication and I fell like crap, I hurt both physically from fibromyalgia and emotionally from trama, please tell me it gets easier with time. I do have my husband by my side. Im not alone, he is not leaving my side and is my biggest support person so I have that going for me.

Welcome Brandi! Glad u found this forum! Congratulations on ur 1 day of freedom! Initally it can be rough. Early recovery can be hard, but it does get easier over time. The more we work on our recovery each day and dont pick up, the easier it gets. At 4+ years in, i rarely have urges to use. But its daily work  Glad ur here and glad u have support at home too

Welcome to the community Brandi

Way to go with your 1+ day off of pain meds. I know this is not easy and the early days can be excruciating. It does get easier. Your body will find ways to deal with the pain. We have some threads here that talk about Chronic pain. For me I find that it is helpful to find activities / movements that help relieve the pain. For me this can be swimming, using electric therapy via TENS unit, Red light therapy, gentle massages for instance.
Your body will thank you for not being medication dependent. Keep pushing forward friend. For the rough days, I find its best to surround myself with support, take extra care of myself and do my best to find my way back to a positive state of mind.

Im trying to distract myself, its hard, I spend all day in the car, me and my husband are team drivers driving customers to drs offices and they are all long distance drives. Yesterday 530am was my last dose and left the house at 6am didn’t get home till midnight, went to bed at 2am didn’t sleep well(maybe 2 hrs total) and then left the house at 8am and been on the road all day, its now 5pm and I still have 3 and half hrs till im home

That is a lot of driving for sure. Are you able to take stretching breaks to help ease up the muscles?

Distracting yourself is key. My early weeks I immersed myself in distraction and changed up my routines best I could so that I didn’t associate my time with my drug (even though I was getting high and smoking / drinking from the moment I got up till I went to bed). Our minds will always try to make our situation seem harder and justify the need for us to need the meds/ drugs/ etc. Why are we poisoning ourselves just to function - that right there is a red flag.

I wish you energy and strength for the next three hours. Hope you can get home and find a way to unwind and relax. Practice some self care. You are already 1+ day in - keep that train going my friend :muscle:

That is great that you can take stretching breaks. I would even recommend doing a little jog in place to get heartrate up. It is amazing what a little bump in the heartrate can do for the brain.

Love sunflower seeds. Also shelled pistachios are great as they take concentration on opening – my go to snacks for sure when I am trying to stay distracted.

If possible, you can do coloring or phone puzzles as well to help you with the distractions. I spent a LOT of time here on this app just reading through as many threads as I could. I found that to be very helpful. We have some fun threads like Make Me Laugh. Tell me a joke
