Probably not my favorite of all time, but just wanted to post that my husband and I watched a great movie tonight.

Unlikely to be everyones cup of tea, but there were lots of laugh out loud moments, which was what I needed tonight. It’s called ‘Long Shot’ :+1:

Lots of great movies in this thread! My favorites include:

Deep Red
The Bird with the Crystal Plumage
Cat O’ Nine Tails
(I love Argento’s giallos in general; the music, colors, and crazy killers are fun.)

Picnic at Hanging Rock (existential)
Mildred Pierce (mother-daughter drama)
Taxi Driver (dark, yet poignant)
On the Waterfront (one of my dad’s favorites)
The Manchurian Candidate (original only!)
Big Fish (one of the few movies to make me tear up)
Now, Voyager (love & sacrifice)
Leave her to Heaven (alluring villain)
Gaslight (the origin of the term today; Bergman is beautiful)
12 Angry Men (Juror 8 standing alone is inspiring)
Silence of the Lambs (perfect thriller)

There’s just so many good ones!! One of my favorite pastimes.

Airplane!
Birdman
Good Time
8 1/2
Wetlands

I do like it! I guess I just don’t like it enough to single out among Argento’s films. My first Argento film was Suspiria, actually, and I watched Inferno & Mother of Tears after to complete the trilogy. I love Suspiria’s opening sequence- probably one of the best in horror, I’d say. The cacophony of the airport, storm, & Goblin music when Susie steps out into the rain- what a scene! The Three Mother movies are really great & the Goblin music is so perfect; wish I could get some of it as a ringtone, lol. Tenebrae is another film that I would add to my favorite list as well- love the main character. There’s something truly escapist about this genre. Do you like giallo films in general? What are your favorites?

Any Die Hard, which are no doubt the best Christmas movies!

So I saw A Hidden Life up at the Mill Valley Film Festival, and it’s definitely one to look out for. I have a hunch they’ll re-edit it down a little for the broader release, but at 3 hours it was almost perfect. As a Jewish guy I’m super critical about movies that portray events of WWII with too much romance or Hollywood in them, and this one tread that line well.

Its a brutal movie. It feels like two halves, before capture and after capture. A juxtaposition of freedom and entrapment. Really cool movie worth watching when you can.
