5 1/2 hour chocolate and salted caramel cake. That was an excellent way to spend my Sunday.

And Dandan noodles for salt. My sinuses are clear.

Can’t stop, won’t stop.
Dessert is mashed potatoes from scratch. I added a heel of a random soft cheese, horseradish, blue cheese, butter, heavy cream, rosemary and S&P.

Eaten from a pan on the stove with a spoon.

I opened a jar of homemade rhubarb and ginger jam I made using rhubarb from Greyfriars kirkyard where I do gardening each week. It’s the best I’ve ever made :star_struck:

It all sounds and looks amazing. Dare I say those mashed potatoes sound out of this world! I’ve never experimented much with mine so this intrigues me. Thanks for the inspiration.

I used to make this a while back but i found it very difficult to get it to set as its very low in pectin, even when i used jam sugar it was the same,i done a experiment once to see how far i had to take before it would set,it ended up tasting like treacle toffee!!

Chocolate cake looks amazing definitely cake goals for me  What’s the sinuses clearing and salt about ? I’ve just got over a virus and my sinuses and ears are awful :persevere:

The flavour profile sounds banging but duuudeee you left the skins in… :sob::sob::sob:… I can’t ever do that. I have a potato phobia since childhood. Lumps. It’s not about skins, I love jacket potatoes, it’s a texture issue.

Glad you enjoyed it though, sounds luxurious.

This brought a memory to mind I thought I would share… nope I don’t peel my potatoes for mashing. I had a friend over and I made mashed potatoes. Next day they brought me a brand new potato peeler. I said thank you. Never said I have many but just don’t peel my potatoes :potato:. Mashed potatoes are a super comfort food however you make them!!! Ps sometimes I leave chunks of garlic in there too.

I couldn’t eat them that way. I would honestly vomit. :face_vomiting:
I’m not even joking.

Alrighty then . I will make yours smooth as cream!! I can do that! I would prefer no vomiting at my table. I am laughing and thank you!

Thank you thank you. I was once out for dinner with my family as a kid and me and my sister started making noise about lumps in the tatties. I reckon we got a right slap at the time for being rude about food. I don’t have many idiosyncrasies around food apart from lumps in potatoes. It’s a genuine fear, I even won’t order potatoes out, just in case. I can’t control myself and my reaction

See, look how gorgeous that is. All of Emilie’s cheese and flavourings and cream and butter can go in though…

I just used regular sugar and the juice of a lemon I think. I have a jam thermometer so I used that.

They really were amazing. Horseradish is a must for me and rosemary is also usually non-negotiable. We buy the tiny ends of fancy cheeses from Whole Foods for snacking and you can usually get a good taste for around two dollars. A random one of those always goes in.
Deee-lish!
