Me too with brussels! But my mom boiled them :face_vomiting: ugh

Oh yeah, I think I’ve come across this. They go so well together!

Scientifically that’s because your taste buds change with age and you get fewer of them so you don’t feel taste that intense when you’re older.
 But Taste memories of things are still stored in the brain, that’s why you can remember things with help of taste. For example if you look at a child hood photo where you’re eating ice-cream, you can still remember how the ice-cream tasted even if you haven’t eaten it for years. If works the same with food you don’t like, and won’t try again. Like Brussel sprouts.

My mum boiled them too. From frozen. Butter and salt. There were no roasted veggies served back in my day lol. She grew up in a family of 16 on a farm with little money and the wood fired oven was for bread or likely roasts. So she carried forward much of those basic cooking traditions. I still love Brussels sprouts but I’ve never cooked them myself from raw :open_mouth: I better get on that (I’ve had them at restaurants though). I still steam from frozen occasionally, in her memory lol :two_hearts: I just cook them less so they’re not mush :joy:

Veggie toad in the hole (veg in the hole?). Yotam Ottolenghi recipe so a little long winded, but worth it!

Nice menu. I appreciate that it’s diverse but not past one page, which doesn’t overwhelm the diner with choices, and doesn’t overwhelm the kitchen with so many things they have to try to juggle around. The lay out is nice too. Visually appealing. Classy. A+ would definitely order from.

Thanks mate. I work the kitchen by myself at the moment so it’s designed to do all the things you mentioned.

Oh hi  didn’t realise it was you to start with, with your new avatar.

My bf eats his steak blue and it is SO hard to get them to do it right in restaurants. He always got medium so just stopped ordering steak!

Bundt cake came out great!

Makes complete sense. I managed F&B at a hotel and then at a full service bar and restaurant at an airport with server and bar experience. While I never worked kitchens completely, I insisted on having the training so that if one of my cooks had to go home or I was needed in a pinch, that I could put on a coat and go back there (though at the hotel we only had one in the kitchen). I have nothing but respect for people who work in the kitchen. It can be a tough job and anything you can do to set yourself up to succeed makes the difference. It’s a nice menu. I hope you’re happy with it through the season.
