Foodies Unite #3 (trigger warning food) (Part 1)

Deep fried hot dogs  you put them on a stick or dip them in a batter of usually cornmeal, flour, eggs, sugar, and milk, and deep fry them in oil.

You have meat inside with a sugary coating? Sounds interesting. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Well it’s a little sweet, but not sugary. It tastes like cornbread with a hot dog (probably because it basically is) you might be able to skip the sugar but because I did a gluten/diary free version I didn’t dare to skip anything in the recipe.

@Salty These don’t look the greatest, but I’m still excited to roast them!

Those look good! :yum: my son loves corn dogs.

Mine too, just like me. I have to admit that I was nervous making them dairy and gluten-free. But they tasted just like they should

My heart breaks for you,

Avacados while possibly the most delicious fruit in the world, are so frustrating.

I try to balance the ripe/not ripe space time continuum and end up with this disappointment often

Avos are quite costly most places,

The demand for them increased significantly over the years, and recent droughts hurt production

Based on my poor guesstimate conversion 4 dollars AUS is about 3 dollars US. Which is still insane, they are about half of that here.

Nice! I still need to grab some. I did buy this though, as well as a regular farro from Bob’s Red Mill

Ooo I’ll be interested to hear what you think of it.

It’s from Pinterest, we don’t have Bisquick here so I just used the equal amount of gluten free flour mix. (without wheat startch or xantan gum)

I don’t eat avocado’s but there’s a trick to check them, take of the little cap that’s on them (you know the little dot in the top) preferably after you bought it because I’m not sure if taking it away affects the avocado. If it’s har to get off/doesn’t come off it’s not ripe. If it’s bright green/green under it’s perfect. And if it’s brown it’s to ripe/bad.
It has always worked for me.

Yup I do that too :slightly_smiling_face: Sometimes you still get a dud though. They’re expensive up here but I felt better this one was on sale at least lol

They’re expensive over here too. But most fruits and veggies are except for the ones that’s actually possible to grow here. (Potatoes, carrots, Kale)

Yup not a fail safe unfortunately. I envy my friends in the southwest and Cali who have avocado trees. I also had them year round in the grocery stores when I lived in Arizona.

Yep. Life in the north… root veggies galore! :joy:

@RosaCanDo Avocado tree? Yer talking about Eden, methinks!

@Salty yeah, they’re not cheap here either, but a helluva lot cheaper than my wine!

Edit: than my wine was. past tense! no more wine in these parts. just unripe, expensive avocados…

I envy everyone who lives in a warm climate. I’ve tried to grow everything from olives, to lemons and corn without big success. Except for one time that we actually got a lot of corn. We still try every summer
