Foodies Unite #4 (trigger warning food) DON'T GO BACON MY HEART!

Homemade arepas- taco style.

First time I’ve ever made them. I put lime zest in the arepa dough.

They are Monterey Jack, beef, rainbow carrot slaw, Guasacaca ( avocado sauce), roasted garlic and chipotle sauce. And of course a salad  :green_heart:

They look gorgeous! Arepas remind me of Mexican gorditas or even sopes. I could find decent arepas in Tucson but I’ve been so scared to try making my own of all of the above. Thanks for the inspo!

Edit to say I’ve never heard of guasacaca and googled it. Glad it wasn’t just me who giggled at the name but I’m happy to learn about other latinx traditions! Thanks, chica!

So I had a craving for tacos and the store was packed. I just wanted to get out. I grabbed masarepa instead of masa on accident.
I love arepas- there’s this little Venezuelan place that I go to. But have never made them. I just followed the directions on the bag and pressed them out like tortillas just a bit thicker. So freaking yummy. I highly suggest making them

Haha yes- such a funny name! Added a little translation for the non-googlers! Haha

That sounds like so much fun. Now I have to. Eeeek! Exciting! No chance of Masarepa here but I have masa and I can make tortillas or whatever else I decide. I’m dying for some sopes.

Your quesadilla the other day inspired me to make it! Your meals are always beautiful. So thank you for inspiring it :kissing_heart::green_heart:

Lunch at the office. Shredded chicken with smoked cheddar in toaster oven. A bit of dried broccoli & nutritional yeast topper. Needed salt

My first liverwurst sandwich sober.
And I still like it

With Gulden’s of course on an extra large muffy.
We always had liverwurst and baloney in the house when I was growing up. Now? Not so much.
