Foodies Unite #6 (trigger warning food) ANOTHER ONE BITES THE CRUST!

I’m thinking about doing a pulled pork soon, but again, I’d have so much excess, and then tend to just keep eating

Not really foodie, but funny.
The family had to go to Osaka for karate tournament. So we needed lots of riceballs for the car ride, lunch, etc.
They started off normal size, then I got bored and irritated, and started making huge ones! The early ones are at the top, the later ones at the bottom!

Very cool, @Misokatsu I had to google rice ball and they are Rice Balls! onigiri or omusub
The ones I saw from Spruce Eats look like little igloos! Yours look great, I frequently end up with left over (yellow) rice that I freeze…
Next go around I am going to make balls! It says you just simply make it into a ball! Thanks for the new idea! If I wasn’t such a sugaraholic I would put raisins and cinnamon in them!
Editing to add, PS–it is Very foodie!

I wasn’t sure if onigiri would be understood. They are triangles, but you can make them round if you want. Especially ones that don’t use white rice are round (mazegohan etc).

Do you have a favorite flavoring that you use a lot? I see one of your four packs is red.
I just got those names off the Internet.

In Japan you can buy furikake, special rice flavoring.

We just get different ones to jazz up onigiri.
Mazegohan is chicken, carrot, mushroom, aburaage, with soy sauce, sake and mirin (proportion 3 1 1). I just bung it in the rice cooker.
Edit - the kids’ favorite is plain white rice with nori tho. You can’t beat a classic.

My husband has made breakfast burritos in bulk for years and eats them most mornings. He has honed his recipe over time to give him what he needs in terms of nutrition and sustenance. It is a mix of brown rice, black and pinto beans both whole and refried from a can, serrano chiles puréed with lime juice, and a tomatillo based jarred salsa. Plus shredded “Mexican” cheese blend. Doesn’t seem very breakfasty to me but it works for him. Well he had a hectic week and I offered to make his burrito mix for him, so he thanked me with a burrito this morning and added eggs, sour cream and avocado just for me. I put extra green cholula, too. The chiles were really mild this time around.

The more the merrier!

Breakfast is not a shake today… Yummmmi!
Found a bakery that had 100% rye and spelt bread. I asked her to slice it thin and she took it very seriously! It is crispy toasted in short time.
Now I have a lot on stock,
80% is in the freezer :muscle:t2::heart_eyes:
