Thanksgiving potluck with the neighbors and i only had to cook one thing! Somthing simple but also oddly enough a food with a memory attached of a family member. Presented on my grandmother’s serving tray that i love  My sweet neighbor had sparkling cider for me next to the wine so i would have an option. I thought that was nice of her

I won’t see my extended family until the weekend so my husband and I cooked many things throughout the day. Here are two dishes. Purple mashed potatoes with vegetarian gravy. They look odd but tasted delightful.

And a from scratch fall apple cake with caramel also made from scratch. My pants are tight. Happy turkey day to all who celebrate.

Yesterday was a great day! Mild temps so we got to spend some time outside with a bonfire. The baked Brie was fricken fantastic! My husband who “hates” Brie ate a ton of it! The Cornish hens were beautiful. I made ahead a wild and brown rice blend dressing with mirepoix, tons of mushrooms and toasted pecans - delightful! Since those little hens don’t make a ton of drippings, I made a strong stock earlier in the day using a couple pounds of chicken gizzards and hearts I found at the grocery store. Cooked them on high heat to made a thick fond and then added veg and herbs and stock. That made for such a delicious gravy, I was pleasantly surprised! And Lupe got herself a very tasty holiday meal with those leftover bits, as well! I’m so grateful for a leisurely day of cooking, afforded to me by planning and preparing ahead and staying sober AF! Grateful for my amigos on this thread and on TS, too :heartpulse: Thanks for sharing your holiday meals yesterday and on holidays across the globe.
