Foodies Unite #6 (trigger warning food) ANOTHER ONE BITES THE CRUST!

I just saw a recipe in a magazine yesterday, miso-marinated tofu. Apparently, it gives it a soft-cheese type texture. I can’t wait to try it. I don’t eat a whole lot of tofu. Both of my kids are vegetarian, so I make all kinds of things for them.

I actually rep’d this brand - and yes, it’s good. Price is kinda premium. I’d probably just do Asian market rice noods. Though, if organic is important, you are likely not getting that there.

Ohyes sounds great. If we prepare tofu the right way it’s yummy!

That’s my kind of meal! The tacos look great - but was the 1000 Island weird?

Smoked salmon, poached egg, home grown frisée lettuce, caper and horseradish sauce, grated lemon from the tree outside, brunch. Snaffled down in about 10 mins :yum:. Oh and potato rosti…can’t forget that…

It sounded weird to me too. But I didn’t even notice it. I was too concerned about forgetting to get my avocado on the side. :grimacing: But I got over it that to.

Made some homemade burgers in my cast iron grill pan. Definitely prefer to bbq them but it’s too cold and I’m tired
Mine has aged cheddar, raw sauerkraut, horseradish mayo and romaine.

Did you make this? I cannot seem to get a handle on that perfectly poached egg.

I did…I pretty much have to cook from scratch all the time, partly because I really enjoy it and partly because of where I live…

I find the trick to a poached egg is slightly simmering water, dash of vinegar (which helps it hold its shape), stir the water and then gently drop the egg in. When it’s ready take it out with a slotted spoon and onto some kitchen roll to absorb the last bit of water :+1:

So pretty, beautiful!!, your horseradish caper sauce and your own lemons! Maybe you’ll show a pic of the lemons on the tree sometime! Welcome to the site and to your sobriety @SidneyBliss , I like the pic of your dog and little kitty cuddling too!

@RosaCanDo true confession here, I have never had ramen before and all I have been thinking about since I saw yours was how wonderful it looks and how wonderful it must taste. So you buy the packet from the store and you add stuff to it? If there are fifty packets just get a plain one?

@Dazercat hummus has squeezed into my thoughts big time… I have made lots and lots of hummus and mine always looked like that, very heavy on the fresh herbs… I don’t get it, I used to make hummus, and buy hummus like crazy and eat it the same and now If I have “any”, I eat it all, so I have none… plus I didn’t gain weight when I ate all that hummus! Hummus and avocado in a wrap can take me a long way! My homemade was so much better than the store bought that I just wanted to eat all of it.

Lots of nice food get posted here, it is all nice! … I learn a lot.

Editing to add: @Salty been wanting to comment how sweet that was of your son to whisper … that he would like to come back another time" when you two were in the first restaurant on your mother/ son date…

also looking at the bags of rice ramen up there I see there is more to it than just picking plain… will look at what the grocery store has… and then add what Rosa did!
