My wife had 2 of the 5 interviews this week. She had one this AM, was supposed to have two but one cancelled last minute. She has the rest early next week. So still waiting…
Nothing exciting planned for today, except some gym time later today.
My wife is heading to Vegas tomorrow for her annual convention and will be gone for a week, so it’s single Dad week. What to do? What to do? I usually spend the week decluttering, why break with tradition? Or…
I have had an evil eye migraine and headache since lunch, so have been in bed most of Friday. It’s easing now.
Tomorrow we will take advantage of it being 18 DEGREES and get the first picnic of the year in. Some sun and naps and laughs in the park. Sunday is Pilates in the am and football all afternoon.
@AyBee Hope you are safe @HoofHearted Have a wonderful decluttering week
My friday is over. It was looong, I’m full with fresh input from a very interesting workshop. Missi is sleeping on me. The stove makes the living room cozy. I’m hungry and can’t move
All good down under
Was not as fierce for us as costal places, but has now been downgraded to tropical low. Plenty of rain still to come with 250+mm in 24 hours forecast.
Thanks Mel!
The wind has gone and now it’s just relentless rain and the flooding that comes from it. For a lot of people things are about to get worse as the water damages all the stuff the winds didn’t get.
Feel pretty secure up here at the moment, but we’re flooded in by the creek below us - which is ok, it will go down fast once the rain stops and we have nowhere we need to be till Tuesday.
Though the wind has ceased, it’s the huge rain storm left slowly moving down that’s really causing damage.
Another very rainy day where we are flooded in (but up dry and safe). Our road will be interesting to negotiate when we can finally leave. But for now, all of us and all the animals are safe.
So excited for Friday. This week just passed in a blink of an eye.
Not much planned today. Have to help out with work stuff, some pool time and cooking. My sis is coming by for a quick visit this weekend so that’s exciting.
It’s Pi day . I picked up a lovely strawberry rhubarb pie yesterday on one of my errands.
It was a busy but good week, very happy that it’s Friday tho
I have to get groceries (was finally eating healthier since 2 weeks!) then cook or snack something and then snuggle up in my bed.
Everything that’s considered work will have to wait until tomorrow
Wife update: she had her final interviews this week. She thinks they went well. She has one final meeting with the hiring manager to close out the loop, that should happen next week sometime, then we wait on their decision.
In the meantime, she’s had some other interviews and people in her network has reached out with opportunities, so she’s pretty confident sometime would pan out before long.
She returns home tonight, this week has flown by, I haven’t done anything I wanted to get done.
Today, I have work projects I need to tend to, gym time is on the books, then gather the kids, have dinner and go fetch my wife from the airport.
What do you do when you’re feeling overwhelmed by unfinished tasks?
For me, I pick an easy win, to create momentum, then try to continue from there.
Right now, that’s dishes and laundry. Let’s get to it.
This …for sure …just got to get over the hump of tackling it and then it starts to all feel so easy. If I don’t have an easy win per se then I break down the task and make it easier…even if its broken down by a music or snack break. Rooting for ta…you will conquer the tasks!
Great news on the job interviews front. Thanks for the update. Hope she hears back soon
Happy sober friday folks!
Mine is over and was a good one.
I’m with you @HoofHearted - Here is the master of breaking tasks in small tasks, smaller tasks until I can get something done Today for me it was laundry and running the vacuum cleaner 4 times Yep, I’m a bit exhausted from the new living situation with 3 cats and a dog. I will get accustomed to it, it’s lovely.
My day was: up early, fumble around the house, walk the dog, train with the dog, pet my cats, more cleaning, meeting with my counselor (traing the dog to people visiting), eat cheese, drink tea, brush the dog, feed the dog, lounge on the couch with Missi on me and listen to the dog snorring
Life will get easier when routines get established.
Have a wonderful weekend, I’m off to bed. Oh, wait, no, the dog needs another walk later.
She had her final interview yesterday with the hiring manager, or so she thought. Turns out, she needs to meet with the boss’ boss’ boss for the final boss battle.
But, what she gleaned from this talk yesterday was: She is, in fact, one of 2 candidates left, the other is internal. The hiring manager said she was happy to see my wife apply for this role as she was hoping she would.
So, she’s pretty confident that she’ll land it. If so, this is a pretty big deal; she said this company would be her forever job if she could ever work there. She’s so close.
And if not, she’s got a few other irons in the fire.
Sorry for the non-friday post on thr Friday thread, I just had to share.
