Gardening In Recovery

Slowly but steadily

Started my front flower garden today. Still trying to figure out what to put in the barrel bed if anyone has any ideas? Got rid of all the dead plants in my house today and replaced them with some new plants. As long as I stay sober, they will stay alive. When I fail, they die. Looking forward to planting the veggie garden in the next few days!

Trying to make some bonsai trees from a corkscrew willow that I helped cut down. With absolute minimal research and no real plan I had the cuttings soaking in water and eventually roots started forming. I picked three and got them in pots now. I think they’ll be pretty if they survive :kissing_smiling_eyes:

Have to cut away the dead bamboo, I guess.

Hubby sent me some garden progress photos! My tomatillos are flowering, and my herbs and peppers look healthy. Got a late start…grow, babies, grow!

I just put a teeny tiny milkweed plant in with the pansies.

Milkweed attracts monarch butterflies so they will lay their eggs. I will re-pot this once it is bigger so that the caterpillars won’t eat all my other plants!

I just started working at a plant nursery about a month ago without any plant knowledge or experience at all . I just wanted to work outside … now it has become a huge part of my sobriety and life. I made a few raised garden beds a few weeks ago and just threw a bunch of seeds with some really good soil and I’m going to mostly learn by trial and error .at work I mostly just repot plants into larger sizes all day and I’m constantly weeding . The nursery is huge and I get lost a lot because it’s been there 75 years so it’s endless it seems … I would like to learn to grow Zucchini more then anything because it’s my favorite vegetable. The job definitely helps with real life skills I can use to survive and helps with my sobriety… Anyway good post and keep on gardening!!:grinning::grinning:

Pumpkin plant from the store is the sole Survivor of the batch of plants I got, there was a late frost that killed off the other pumpkin plant and all the pepper plants.

Plants, herbs and vegetables are doing great! Can’t wait for more color in my garden. Hubby took down a fence to replace it for a new one and the rest of the garden is a mess. But I’ll just ignore that part.

Any suggestions for plants (to go in a pot container) are both beautifully scented AND can stand hot (90+) and humid weather, AND be in Full Sun all day?

Zone 7 a/b

I’m looking to add just a couple to my fake plant container garden.

OMG I love going to nurseries and asking questions like that! But I’m guessing things like succulents or cacti. Or a lemon tree in a pot? I have one if you want me to take a photo and post it here.

Have you planted these before? This is my first year I sowed sugarsnaps

and I’m thrilled to watch them grow. Last week they finally gave flowers and the plants are really tall now!
