Harvest chard today for the first time! Fried it with onions, oyster mushrooms and pumpkin and tohu. Served it with noodles. Was yum!

I was excited to see roots on my basil cuttings! Also I rearranged my little flower garden after picking up a geranium. Love it!

Lovely! @Sanuk @Fnkychic I usually grow chard and kale varieties but skipped them this year and regret it! :sob: But I’m happy to have more herbs this year. Limited space on my deck and patio and limited to containers as a renter. It’s such a joy growing things, though!

Yay! Beautiful! What do you do with the chard? It’s not a common vegetable here. I ate it for the first time. So recipe tips are welcome!

Love the flowers, wonderful colors!

Growing up, we’d sauté in butter and add a bit of salt. Garlic added is tasty too :yum:

JF that really sounds amazing. I’d love to keep sharing with each other! I have to say, I’m pretty proud of my mostly clover lawn while my neighbors treat theirs with chemicals. Cuts way down on mowing, also. And I convinced at least two sides of the fence not to spray chemicals on the fence line since my dog chews the grass there. Progress!

My crop is mostly tomatoes, tomatillos, a variety of chiles (cayenne, serrano and pasilla) and herbs/flowers and I love it so far. Gotta get cooking to use these things soon! The flowering thyme and chives are attracting tons of pollinators.

Perfect morning to weed these stubborn thistle shoots that come back every year, even though I try to dig down on those tap roots as much as possible. The Hostas are new this year and they aren’t happy here so they’ll need a new home somewhere in my non shady yard. The potted mint plant will move out here since the thyme is so happy.

That plant in the back is a volunteer pride of Peru and makes beautiful magenta trumpet flowers.

My dad asked me to take a photo of these for him yesterday. He got so excited when he saw them blooming and said they are his favorite! (My father is a 60 year old german man with long red hair fading to white, broad build, 6ft 4, rides a motorcycle, listens to metal music, and primarily wears Slayer tshirts. Him getting giddy about flowers is out of character and made my day!)

Almost finished! Just need a bit more mulch. Can’t wait for these babies to fill out and get big!

Just beautiful! I absolutely love gardening. I put a new garden this spring with perenials and a side garden with vegetables. It keeps me sane and sober.

Question for y’all. I just discovered that my basil plant has downy mildew, evidenced by the black fuzzy undersides of leaves. The research I’ve done tells me the plant is not salvageable and I should harvest what I can and dispose of the plant. Has anyone else had this experience and found a way to treat it? For now I’ve isolated it from other plants.

LOVE THIS! What a great idea, I can imagine the fun to walk around with the basket plucking the herbs and veggies.

The back garden and the house are still under construction. We are living in a renovation for 3 years now. And we’re still getting acquainted with the neighborhood. With some of the neighbors we’re having a great click, especially with the ones with kids. I now proposed to throw a small harvest feast at the end of July. Everyone can bring their homegrown veggies, fruits and herbs to share and trade with others. I got lots of enthusiastic reactions! Warms my heart to live here with my family.
