Gardening In Recovery

My hostas are barely sprouting @anon9289869 similar to your rhubarb. I need to get some mulch on these.

Beautiful! It’s raining lately so I’m hoping for this to come our way in a couple weeks.

Thank you :hugs:
The apple trees are blooming, I’ll take pictures on the weekend. The grass is covered with white petals falling off them in the wind. Dandelions everywhere. It’s a feast for the eyes. Hope spring comes soon to your garden :orange_heart:

Glad to find this community as I love gardening. Roses grow like weeds here in the Diablo Valley, Ca ( considered east bay San francisco).

Ooohhhh I love them  cute lil sprouts. We covered ours in leaves through the winter and have been kind of afraid to uncover them after the rabbits completely chomped them down last spring. I haven’t even looked at them yet :see_no_evil: I’m the over protective plant parent hiding my hostas from the cruel world :joy:

Not much going on in my garden yet but I was overjoyed to come across a worm out there this morning

Here is a delightful trailer for a movie coming out May 23rd…
“The Little people of the Garden”. I had a potager for years… perhaps one of these days again… intensely planted vegetables, flowers, herbs… and 'little people". Hope no one minds me posting a movie… in French, with French subtitles.

The trailer is lovely :green_heart:
As arte co-produced it, I will watch out when they send it on TV

I have my first monarch caterpillars of the season! I’m trying out a new enclosure since last year most of them were eaten by praying mantises.

They are beautiful!

Yesterday I counted 10 of them. Today I counted 15! They move around a lot day-to-day. I’ll post photos if I get chrysalises.

Opening day at our farmers market was perfect on this beautiful day! Got a good start on getting the plants I want this year, as well as some unexpected stuff. Next weekend a local farm is having a plant sale so I’ll be getting my tomato plants there. So far I have:

Herbs: rosemary, chives, berggarten sage, cilantro
Chile peppers: shishito, Siam slim cayenne, serrano, habanada sweet pepper
Red sweet bell peppers
Swiss chard
Bush bean
Zucchini
Cucumber

Exciting!

Does anybody know what this is / if this is anything? It’s randomly coming up in one of our beds. My aunt and I both didn’t recognize it. Not one of the normal weeds or anything we’ve planted before.

I started gardening a bit when I moved into my new apartment and started using less dxm. I planted sage, mint, and parsely. Ironically the thing that got me to quit drinking wasn’t getting wellness checked because people thought I was dying - but when I drunkenly overwatered/smashed down my mint plant…and then proceeded to accidentally unroot it while pulling it up. I thought it was dead and cried over it while nearly blackout (would later that night/shortly after without consuming more) drunk. Propped it up the next morning and it took root again and is alive currently, a few months after.

Mint is almost impossible to kill! Glad gardening got you to a place of wanting to be sober!

No clue! Wish I could help.

The immortal plant surving my drunken actions lol. Very forgiving to the addict.
