Last years harvest
Sooo beautiful! Please feed us with photos along the season
Love your raised beds. I have to renew mine, after 10 yeares the old ones are in pieces and that’s ok as they were made of reused wood from an old building at our place.
Oh my, Ray! That is absolutely fantastic! The phallic carrot! . I am looking into a community garden that I can plant a few things. It’s walkable to my house. Gardening would be such a great hobby.
Me too. I knew there was a gardening thread out here somewhere. I was just thinking about it.
I want to do some container flower gardening in my little back yard this year. First time. I love spring. It can’t come soon enough.
Just now seeing this, Ray. Absolutely stunning. Much talent you have. I adore that blue bench!
It’s finally warming up a bit! 40F in northern wisconsin and the snow and ice has melted enough to open the garden gate today.
The snow returned after a few warmer rainy days. Went out to assess the cold frames for planting over the weekend when it’s back in the upper 40s. And now I’m going to end up redoing my plan for the garden and start more seeds today.
When I was planning and journaling I was in the mindset of my old tiny garden I had in Utah or maybe just thinking from before we expanded last year. Walking in there today I got all sorts of new ideas and realized there is a lot more space than I was thinking.
The gardens and shed look great also your harvest is brilliant, you grow all this in Scotland? (i dont know why i think of Scotland as always cold and snow) Im in London this year is my first try at growing my own.
My dads scottish his nan mckenzie.
Yes here in Scotland usually in may to October the weather is ok for plantIng out i grow all my veg and bedding plants also i mentor two young guys who have there own landscaping companies and help them when they have quotes and designs for their clients keeps me busy , my guitar and gardening keep this old guy content in retirement . keep on digging
Looks like the mint I planted last year is coming back en force…it has definitely spread. At this rate there won’t be room to plant much else! Maybe I can fit a rosemary plant there and call it good along with the thyme plant that over wintered okay this year (needs some dead parts trimmed back).
I should add this is a small bed in front of my house that gets afternoon sun. I do most of my gardening in the back yard and in containers on the deck. It’s almost time to get started!!!
@RosaCanDo since we were talking rhubarb earlier I went out to peek at mine
It’s a slow growing cold spring for them. I was looking back and found photos from April 5th last year they were already this size. By May last year they had small stalks with hand sized leaves. Gonna have to wait a good bit longer this year.
Ugh yes it’s a slow spring this year! C’mon already!!!
Spring flowers coming up in the back yard.
@RosaCanDo mint is such an invasive weed. You will definitely get your money’s worth with it!
