Getting through the day!

Today is just the second day of not drinking and I feel like I’m being a big cry baby. It’s just an every night thing so it’s weird to not have a game night with my boyfriend and have drinks or even going out. Shit is just so weird and I didn’t really think it was gonna be this hard. I was just kinda like whatever , a walk in the park. It’s definitely harder than I was expecting.

Distraction was key for me in those early days

Welcome to this great sober community Destiny. Congratulations on your 2 days.
I could never quit, or actually STOP drinking until I finally got support. There’s lot of great people here to help us along our way.
There’s a great daily check in thread.

Many people use it to check in daily and tell about their struggles and or successes and just kind of give each other support. You do not have to be alone.
I hope to see you around.

Welcome Destiny! You are not alone. I am 101 days sober and still struggle. I was triggered this weekend and if it were not for this wonderful, loving, supportive, community, I probably would have drank. I was house sitting for a friend who is not very supportive of my sobriety told me to drink whatever I felt like drinking. I turned to this community and it helped stay sober. Just remember ODAAT. Hope to see you around..

I know it can be overwhelming. Sometimes a day at a time can be too much. I’m 4 days clean and sometimes I can only take it 5 minutes at a time. You are doing the work by reaching out and expressing your feelings. As you continue to walk in recovery, explore new hobbies and activities that you would like to do, but soberly. You will find out that there’s another you that you never knew

Welcome to the community Destiny

It is a struggle my friend. This is a journey where a support system comes in handy. Possibly a meeting or a recovery group or ever being super active here would be helpful. This is a very supportive and caring community to be a part of. Take your time to read around the threads and join in when you feel comfortable.

I also find that changing up daily routines and keeping ourselves busy helps with the urges and re-training our minds.

Hope to see you around :hugs:
