Never in my life I thought about working out like I’m doing it now… I mean doing weight and all that.
Pretty happy with my 40 kg today I know is not a lot but it felt pretty great.

Gracias Rey.

Posting this week’s climbing gym results so far. Had a good session this morning! Next session will be Sunday. @Faugxh thanks for the heads up on this thread! It would be cool to find other climbers here.

Bye for now…

Incredible! Pretty jealous of that level of activity! You’re killing it John! :fire::fire: Will need a selfie in action soon, gotta see what this kinda intense workout actually looks like as I’m probably never going to experience it!:joy:

Here is a pic from a few weeks ago. I guess climbing is related to hiit training? You get 5 or 10 minutes of high intensity effort, then 10 or 15 minutes rest while you set up and belay your climbing partner. Then repeat.

Had a good climbing session today. I sent a 5.11b grade route. When I started climbing again back in the summer, I set my goal to be in the 11’s by the end of the year. I have 2, maybe 3 more days at the gym before the new year. If I can tick off 1 or 2 more in the 11’s I will consider my goal achieved. Here is the energy burn from today’s climbing

Hitting up a chest/tri day :slightly_smiling_face: I no longer care about the amount of weight i lift. All that is for me is ego. My ego got me into all kinds of bullshit my whole life… I’m lifting to feel good and stay healthy from now on.

I did it! Just did 30m on the treadmill cause just starting out (and am 100lbs overweight). HR was between 145 and 152 which was tolerable.

Had the 90’s dance music blasting cause that’s my generation baby. It felt sooo good and I sent a fervent prayer to my Higher Power that I can keep this up at least 5 days a week.

Will start into weights in the New Year as just recovering from surgery Dec.7. Seriously considering hiring a personal trainer to help me out.

Wohoo more inspiration from TS!

Forced to take some time off.

About a week ago I woke up and my middle back/thoracic area was SUPER stiff and sore. My guess is I did sonething the previous day while doing seated overhead dumbell press. Weight was too much for me to get into position in good forn, body slid down the chair a bit and I pushed myself back up. It’s the only thing I can think of, as I read that injuring youd thoracic is quite diffucult when compared to the neck or low back.

The stiffness/soreness would subside to the point of absence during the day, so I was in last week til I noticed it wasn’t going away. It’s present during the day now. Fucking hurts, just this burning ache in the mid-back. Top it all off, my lower back is acting up because of the changes in mechanics to protect my mid-back. I can usually tell the difference between muscle pain or otherwise, not here.

Hesitant to go see a PT since my insurance is no good here and it’ll probably be weeks to be seen. But I’m also worried that it isn’t getting better. I can’t tolerare this turning into the 4-year nightmare that my low back has been.
If it’s just a sprain on tge ligaments, I can understand why it takes a while to not hurt. I would think if it’s the actual spine or disc, the pain/discomfort would’ve been immediate rather than nothing til next day.

Just worried I guess. The last LAST thing I need is back injuries accumulating…

I actually have a small herniated disc in the thoracic, between T2-T3. I face planted skiing a couple years ago and thats how it happened. It can get very painful when it starts to act up. O/H DB press and even DB curls can be a problem if I go too heavy. The PT said it’s because of the way you compress the neck without even realizing it when pushing O/H. Don’t know if you do it but Yoga and thoracic stretches a couple days a week have been a fucking god send. Good luck

Thanks.
It is actually mildly better today, which is encouraging. I can actually rest lying on my side, propped up on my elbow. Still a little twingy but it was much more painful to do that over the past couple days.

I do incorporate several yoga poses into my 2x daily stretching routine. Most if focused on the hips/low back, but act on the rest of the back as byproduct. Cat/Cow, child’s pose, cobra pose.
When you had your disk at first, did you know immediately something has happened? I’m really hopeful it’s just a strain/sprain since I had no inclination that something was awry until the next day.

Yeah I knew I did something right away after the fall. I had horrible pain right below the neck in between the shoulder blades and straight through to the chest. It hurt like hell trying to tuck my chin in or turn my head too fast. Also had pain radiating down the arm. If I hadn’t of known what I did I would’ve thought it was a heart attack, the symptoms are pretty similar. That was back in 2016, it took a couple months to feel better, but I still gotta watch certain things I do or I tweek it and than it starts to hurt for a couple days or so.

I actually tore my rotator cuff in the same fall so that might have contributed to some of the pain I had surgery to fix that and now I can still lift semi heavy, just gotta be careful.

Today I went back to training after a week and 1/2, work had me really busy this couple of weeks so I didn’t had any time for me.
It was soooo hard hahahaha I kinda miss the burning sensation but It was nice to be back.
My trainer was telling me that we are going to have to start training 5 days at week now I’m only doing 3 days. But I’m going to go under a surgery in a couple of months and they already told me that I’m not going to be able to do any training for 3 months.
So in a way we are preparing my body its going to suck not be able to do any lifting for so long cause I had starting to like it!.
I hope everyone had a good Christmas!!
Have a nice day people!

Smith machine is an idea. I want to see how it does now that I’m resting it. It does feel better than yesterday, but def still there. It hung around for a week but I was still lifting in that time because it didn’t seem too bad. Now I’ve been resting since Friday, last time in the gym was Thursday.

Thing is, stuff like MRIs and X-rays take weeks to schedule. I can’t even begin the scheduling process until my health insurance policy switches to a different model next week. Right now the plan is to give it this full week of rest and see how it is before I get into the time/money/effort involved in scheduling PT or an X-Ray. I’m already on hold to get my MRI scheduled for my low back!

Think the things that scares me is I remember my low back starting with stiffness like that, after doing bentover dumbells rows with bad form. I never took rest, then though…I didn’t know any better. And then was really set it off was a week or two later when I was lying in bed and sneezed. Figure the fatigue from the sprain/strain weakened things, then the sneeze did me in. Trying to be smarter this time. Of course, it’s all different. I had historical low back problems before that. Never any issues with mid-back.
