Good work! Iām curious, how much time do you give yourself between reps when building up to a max like that? How about time between sets on a normal workout day?
I was going about 2 minutes of rest once i hit 225. If i go longer I feel like Iām losing energyā¦ itās weird, i know i should rest longer going for 1rm. Normally i rest 90 seconds between sets.
Banging arms on sobriety day 411. Have a great day everyone! Try to stay consistent, keep up the great work!
Negative spilts was the name of the game and I totally won!! Took a detour to see if I can add an extra mile to my normal run in the mornings and time wise itās doable.
What app are you using?
Iām really excited to be signed up for my first half marathon and my first in person race since 2020! @anon9289869 Itās official
Get it. And congrats on 9 months!
Awesome! Iāve been looking for a half myself. I need something on my calendar or I seem to slip a bit.
Thanks! I wasnāt feeling celebrating it. I slipped at 9
Months last go but Iām not going to this time.
@Gorden I do the virtual races and challenges on runkeeper to help me stay focused but most of the time I just run what I feel like. Hopefully that day Iāll feel like 13.1 miles lol
Eeeep Iām so excited for you!
You have definitely inspired me to start running again once my knee is healed. I was training for a race in 2020 that was cancelled and I stopped doing more than a mile or two after that and focused on the bike instead. I miss the simplicity of running.
I was so sad about all the races that I had in 2020 that were canceled. There arenāt that many options nearby but thatās ok cause travel!! how is your knee?
Do you have any specific future ones you want to travel for? (Other than 4 corners that I just saw you mentioned in your thread lol )
The knee is as frustrating as ever it is doing a lot better and it makes me forget that itās still healing. Went to kneel down in the garden and still donāt have that full range of motion back yet.
After meeting with my surgeon a week ago, it makes sense now that I couldnāt ride the bike on the trainer looking at the different ROM need of a spin bike vs my gravel bike on the trainer. A spin bike wouldāve been much more doable but I have been actually able to get on the trainer for short periods of time this week and working up! Lots of increased PT and getting better every day.
I havenāt planned any yet. Iād let to see how this pans out. Not sure if the hubs wants to go for the adventure and if he does go he better not be a grump! If this one works out then Iāll probably start with my surrounding states. Colorado would for sure be for next year and back home in Texas. Go see some family and run a race and there is a state park in Arizona Iād love to visit. It would be cool to do one in each state but I feel like that would take some serious time
Knee surgery is so hard. Iāve heard itās one of the harder surgeries to recover from. Hopefully you will get your ROM back soon. Itās been 5 years since my last one and it still gives me trouble but also my doctor said I shouldnāt run I aināt letting her take my joy though
Let me recommend any of the REVEL series (runrevel.com). They are downhill, they bus you from the finish up the mountains to the start. I have done marathons down Mt. Hood and the Rockies with them. They are awesome and very well done. Iām thinking my marathoning days may be over, but I may do a half through them still.
Iām not sure if the app that you use to post your times is accurate about the elevation? If so, Iād urge you to find hills, even a stadium where you can run up and down the rows of seats. When you get to places not so flat, youāre gonna regret not having hill training! On the other hand, you could do all your out of state races in Florida. Itās flat coast to coast. Iām not sure how they keep the ocean on the right side of the sand!
Itās runkeeper and itās gps based so Iām guessing itās pretty accurate. Thanks for the advice! Iāll look for some hills and I know the high school has the football stadium if need be
