I just started hitting the gym 6 weeks ago. 43 years and never lifted one weight or ran one meter on a tread mill. Feels so fu* kin good
After being sick for a week and a half, i am proud of myself for completing 5 days straight of morning workouts! 2 good cardio sessions and 3 challenging weight lifting sessions. I really pushed myself this week. Now for 2 days of muscle recovery and back at it next week!
Right, so this little mamma is back at it full swing. Deadlift reps are down after four weeks out with the nerve and then a stupid chest infection, but the first session back is always more a head game than about the numbers. Everything else is only slightly down. Squats are not down lol. Neither are rows.
I also added mandatory stretches after every sesh as was advised here. I guess I’m that age now.
I was also gonna do a selfie for once. I tried. But it didn’t happen.
Much love to all youse! Keep strong friends!
After a few injuries, some of which are always nagging. I’m finally learning now the importance of putting in the time to stretch, before and after the workout. Glad you’re feeling better
@Faugxh feels good to be back didn’t it? You’re still young but stretching is super important, wait til you hit my age . @Jasty2 how old are you man, old enough to have to stretch right? Shit, my warmups are 30 minutes of my workouts now… spend more time stretching and warming up then working.
Just turned 44. Way too old to just run into the gym and start working out right away. I could never get away with that now… I wish I had of done it in my 20s and 30s.
🏋🏻♀🏋🏻♀ Exciting!! I’m glad you are feeling better
Also don’t be calling us old. Stretching is for all ages!
44 here as well
@Dan531 it’s only THE fucking best. thank God for heavy things to lift up and put down.
@Runningfree not old: Of mature stretching age.
Just did my first 45 minute elliptical run in weeks and it feels good to be back.
4th or 5th attempt at getting back to running post-surgery. Friday marked 6 months since I got the ol’ slice-‘n’-dice.
I felt the best I have felt on a run in over 4 years.
I’m still doing run a mile, walk a half mile, repeat for my 6 mile route, but I was never once uncomfortable and my legs actually felt lighter. I was really able to open up my stride.
Before my back issues, I was consistently running 7-minute miles. As the issues came up and slowly increased in impact over years, my speed deteriorated to 9:30/mile, maybe 9 on a really good day.
On the last 2 run miles today, I was consistently at 8:20-8:30/mile, even going for long stretches at a sub-8 pace…without really trying!
Even the opening miles were around 9 min/mile already.
Given that I’m smashing my previous bests in the gym, and now my speed is seemingly able to be regained - I hate to jinx it but T-Mac is back, babycakes, and I can’t wait to see what I can do.
Slightly disheartening. Injury hasn’t let me run since January 2021 and now trying to build back strength after finally having surgery this past June. Cried a touch but feeling determined.
Keep it up!!! Just getting out there and moving is huge.

After my acl/meniscus surgery I used a knee brace when getting back into things. Pretty sure I wore the brace for a few races. It didn’t get in the way and just helped me feel more confident when landing on that leg. You will get speed back but building strength is so important right now. You got this friend!
Ps- don’t beat yourself up. Knee surgery is one of the hardest surgeries to come back from.
Just take it very easy.
It will come in time.
Great that you able to get back out there !
Hey, me too bro. Leg day tomorrow😉
I think you look better than ever, Mikey!
