Hi all 10 days sober and approaching pay day and the weekend .

Welcome and congrats on day 10!
The social aspect of drinking was a strange thing to let go but once I did I had so much more free time I didn’t know what to do with myself. Than I remembered I had hobbies and that I enjoyed doing other things. And before I knew it, I didn’t think about alcohol anymore and started enjoying other things in my life that were long neglected. Don’t let me forget the money I’m saving from not buying alcohol, so there’s that to look forward to as well this weekend! Find something fun and positive to do, even if it’s not much of anything, just do it.
The Friday thread is a great place to be when the weekend is coming
One step at a time, one day at a time. Keep it simple
Remind yourself that the day on the calendar, the amount of money in your pocket, doesn’t alter the reasons why you want to quit in the first place. The pain and chaos you cause yourself will be the same, so there is no reason to use.
I do not know what your addiction is, but when it is alcohol then this is how I did it:
Avoid alcohol related friends, places and events. Keep yourself busy with other stuff to set your mind on something different like working out, gardening, walking, shopping, etc.
If you live with a partner ore roommate tell them about your not drinking.
Cravings are temporary. You can sit them out.
What I use too when I have cravings is this:
The money I would have spent on my addiction went to gym equipment instead and been clean/sober since only 17 days not long at all but it’s a start
Thank you for all the great advice and sorry I should have mentioned my addiction is alcohol. I’ve made it past Friday night so half way there
Don’t be sorry that I feel is up to the individual or there willing to share what there addiction was there shouldn’t be judgement either way we are here for the same thing keep up the good work
