I’m feeling very good but of course every day is so important to stay sober and I have emotional ups and downs

Welcome to TS, glad you found us and congrats how far you have come!
I also have my ups and downs. But everything would be worse with active addiction on top. I find this community very helpful to get through tough times sober.

Congratulations on 38 days! That is great work.
I’m not 7.5 years sober and I’ve never felt better. I’m almost to the point where I hardly think about it anymore. Of course there are days where I wish I could have a drink “like a normal person” but it’s never enough where I would throw the sober days away just for a drink.
But I remember very well what 38 days was like. I was finally detoxed and starting to feel physically better. But that was when the emotional toll hit me. I was feeling guilt and shame but also anger. Some days I was happy and proud but then the emotional roller coaster would hit and I’d feel down again.
The mental work of sobriety is so much harder that the physical. But reading books about addiction or memoirs, listening to podcasts, going to open speaker AA meetings to listen to the stories of people who have found hope in the program…all of it helped me stay focused on my goals.
YOU CAN DO IT!!
Welcome to TS and congrats on 38 days. I still have up and down days/moments but know that they will pass. I normally take myself off for an extra session at the gym or/and increase my meditation to refocus. Have a good read around on here, it’s a great, positive community with lots of support. Hope you’re doing well today ![]()
