Thank you :grinning:. Weldone keep it up, every single day were in recovery we should be so so self proud. Very rare i come accross ppl who know how it feels to get into recovery. I was in a very abusive marriage& my son died just after he was born and i went from not touching drugs, being a senior carer and fulltime nursing student to loosing everything and every1. I was on it for roughly 4 years.i got clean the year after i got away from my now ex husband who was charged with multiple offences on me including attempted murder…however even though im about to be 4 years clean i really syruggle with my mental health…i barley leave my home…i hate it,i have Ptsd,Eupd,Manic dep and so on…yano the usual rubbish they label ya with then do nothing about it appart frm medicate us… 1 good thing lately tho is finding out ive been chosen to represent my county and be a member of the ADP decision making health board pannel. Which came from me and a friend creating D&Gs 1st peer support recovery group weve just celebrated 2 yrs since our launch, weve changed matt standard’s,been invited upto parliament (that was gr8), been on the news about the rising drug deaths.and ive done so much training including my cape PA training which allows me to go into prisons and schools which im so proud of…we all have to just keep going and never look back x

It sounds like you’ve experienced a great deal of trauma Ashley. I can’t begin to imagine what you’ve been through. Really good to hear that you are focusing your energy in positive ways. You’re strong, keep going :muscle: X

I quit smoking tobacco and weed first. Almost 3000 days free from that now (8 years and a bit)

Took me another 3.5 years to realize I’m an addict whatever the substance I use, as my alcohol consumption kept increasing. 4.5 Years clean and sober from all now.

My mood can still be a problem, my motivation to stay clean and sober isn’t. I worked and am still working on the cause for my substance abuse. Been in psychotherapy for over three years now, and switched my nursing career from psychiatry to addiction care. It’s work but it’s a work of love. Never going back. It works when you work it and all that. Welcome to the site and congrats on your nearly 4 years Ashley @Ashleylittle90!

Hi, Ashley! Congratulations on your four years - it’s a huge milestone.
I messed up my time counter - tried to completely cut out sugar and deleted the really important thing  - but it must be over two years… maybe close to three? of sobriety from alcohol for me. The best decision I’ve ever made.
