I had an ultrasound scan today

…and apparently i have an 8mm kidney stone in my left kidney :grimacing: im a little shocked really…anyone had any experience of these? I definitely wonder if its got anything to do with previous drinking…

Never had one myself. It’s possible drinking alcohol played a role @Starlight14 Kelly. But you’ll never be sure. Just another reason not to drink again right? Did they tell you what will happen, and what they’ll do or not do? Success in dealing with it anyway :people_hugging:

Oh man – i have not had any experience with this. Just hope that it’s not painful. What is the course of action to remove? I’m glad you are alcohol free and leading a healthier life

Ok cool, hopefully itl get sorted very soon

The hubs had some kidney stones a while back. The doctor told him it was from too much soda. They weren’t very big so it had to pass them. They gave him some medicine to help make the passing part less painful but he was still in pain. You have to pee them out so I can only imagine how painful it is. I don’t remember how big his was.

Im scared of pain. …oh gosh…

They gave him some ibuprofen and flomax. The flomax makes it easier and less painful to pass by enlarging the uretha. Yours is pretty big at 8cm. I did a quick google search and it says they do surgical removal for ones over 2cm so they would put you under. When is the doctor suppose to call? They would be much better at telling you the plan. I don’t wanna freak you out

Whatever they do to me id rather be put under…im terrified of pain since i had a really traumatic birth with my daughter…maybe i can opt to be put under…il try and remain calm until i speak to the consultant lol im not sure yet when thats going to be, thanks Jenn xx

The good thing is, is you know that it’s in there and your doctor will call with a plan of action. So, good for you for going to the doctor with concerns and good for them for doing an imaging test that found it. Thinking of you and hoping that this gets resolved soon with as little pain as possible.

Thanks everyone…i feel scared…scared of the pain…BUT i know that none of this will be helped one bit by drinking so dont worry guys i know thats off the table and wont be happening…tough things are much better dealt with while sober for sure, i think il just be honest with the doctor and tell him/her my worries when i speak to them, see what my options are and go from there…this is not a crisis im just a bit scared lol

Yes. Speak to your doctor about this and see what your options are. The sooner the better. I’ve had a kidney stone and it isn’t great. I didn’t know until I woke in the middle of the night with intense pain. Middle of the night ER trips are not fun. I’ve been told since then that they could see some small stones in my kidneys but I have not had any symptoms of them passing.

Medicine has progressed in the last 15 years so maybe there are options that will be easier on you. Hang in there.

:warning:Trigger warning…Pain/birth

Thank you, i used to think that there could always be something done about pain but since i had my daughter i know thats not true…before i went into labour my blood pressure went sky high and they gave me meds to bring it down followed by meds to induce labour…what i didnt know was that both meds together bring on labour hard and fast and well ive never felt anything like it…i couldnt handle it…after screaming and vomiting in pain eventually they gave me an epidural which was like heaven…3 days i laid there unable to dilate enough to give birth so on the 3rd day they gave me an emergency section…while transferring me into the theatre table the epidural came out of my back…i heard the surgeon say it would still have an effect for approx an hour and so they continued on…i could feel everything they were doing…i had to ask them to put me under because i couldnt take anymore n had a panic attack on the table…thats why im scared :pensive:
