I need help to stop going to get my usual Saturday fun stuff. But I know in my heart it won’t just be today and tonight it’ll be the week as I’ll drink what left when I wake up tomorrow then Monday it’ll be just to take the edge off. I don’t want too but god I really want too
What do you want on the long term? A sober life?
Then you have to go trough today without the short term “fun”.
I know that’s difficult, but you can make it easier by buy food/sweats you like to get you trough the day. Fill yourself with chocolate instead of alcohol or whatever you used to drink/use.
Keep your mind distracted. What helped me in the beginning of my sobriaty was long walks in nature while listening to recovery podcasts. In the evening I watched Netflix and treat myself with whatever I like to eat. Everything is better then drinking!
Repeat after that
When you have more sober days in your pocket it will become easier, but you have to go to the hard part first.
Thank you
Hey thank you for you! just kicking my ass and seeing the bigger picture helped to to make another day sober And the right choice
Sarah you got this don’t go back to it, even if it calls you. Keep yourself busy go on walks, go on youtube look up the benefits on quiting alcohol, will power thats what you have sometimes you just need that little extra push. Stay safe and stay sober one day at a time.
I downloaded some recovery podcasts and I might just go for a walk in the morning and listen to them like you said.
Sounds super inspirational
Great!! Do you have the podcast “recovery elevator” already? That’s a good one too!
Just followed it now!
Maybe I will start with this one. There looks to be some good stories. I am going to start now
I found them very incouraging! I’m Dutch myself but listened to it because I couldn’t find one in Dutch.
Saw that you found the “check in tread” too
I’m there every day since my day one. It helps me to stay accountable and focussed.
Good luck at your sober journey!
Thank you for suggesting the Recovery Elevator Podcast. I just finished Sobriety in the Pandemic and it was very touching.
Made me learn a lot about myself and I saw that there are other people out there with my story. Made me see that I made the right decision coming here
