I'm not out of ideas yet! But I could use some suggestions 😅

I’m still super new to getting and staying sober, but, I was wondering what everyone does to keep busy. I do a lot of meetings and work a side job and take care of a family member, but I still have a lot of time on my hands. What keeps everyone entertained? Would anyone like to share some creative ways to keep occupied? Thanks all.

Learn something new about something you’re already good at, so if you paint (learn a different medium), if you play an instrument learn a difficult song. This way it is enjoyable and not distressing; otherwise you may become triggered.

Painting Smile Stones helps me to keep busy and relax in the evening.

After I got a broken heart and lost my sobriety a few months after, I just straight-up turned into a workaholic. I’d recommend learning an instrument actually, I’m a (electric) guitarist and a (fretless) bassist. Or try cooking maybe, good food makes you happy
And exercise too!

I became a workaholic by choice, and it keeps me sober as hell, but I sacrifice all my free time for it. I combine school with part-time and sometimes I just work+school 12-14 hours a day. As a porn addict, being exhausted at the end of the day is the ultimate remedy. But if you have another choice, don’t become a workaholic. I got more money than I need and I barely spend it

You could try studying a new language…

You’d need people to learn along with you, it’s very hard to keep studying if you’re not using it. I knew like 5 or 6 six at some point, and the fact that I’m only using 3 means I only know 3 now :joy:

Though it sounds like a great idea!

there was a time when everything was boring without drink and drugs and it was all about OMG what am I going to do all day but then I learnt to just enjoy the space I had created inside myself, my problems had gone, My stress and worries were gone when I say gone I mean more manageable, I wasn’t obsessed with how shit my life was and I began to enjoy sitting by myself and for once in my life feeling comfortable and knowing that I was enough.
If your going to attempt to climb your mountain in one day at least stop half way up, look back and admire the view.
Many of us try so hard to get sober that we forget we are sober, we’re in it we’re doing it so enjoy it.

Just gotta find things to keep your mind busy and off using your DOC. For me I do the following

Meditation
Walks
Rides with lots of singing :joy: car karaoke :microphone: if you will.
Taking pictures
Spend time on TS looking up memes and chatting with people
Word searches

May seem kinda lame or low key but it’s worked for me.

That’s a really good idea and a good way to look at it. Thank you.

I would love it if I could do that. I tried Spanish and gave up because I was so bad at Learning a new language. Someone told me it was a right brain left brain thing. Haha I definitely the side that doesn’t get it. That or math.

That’s a lot of languages and very impressive

That last part is very nice. I’ll remember that.

I’ve always been interested in sign language. Growing up my best friends parents were deaf. He became an interpreter.
