Was it not the same brave heart pic?!!

We need to be great full for all recovery movements , addiction ruins lifes.
This is serious stuff people ,if someone puts down their DOC by believing in the tooth fairy then great that’s one less life ruined.

I would just like to add that we all come from different backgrounds, different addictions, different perspectives, even different countries on this little planet. We are all here because we have a problem or problems that we are trying to fix in some way, shape or form. There is no “right” path in life, just as there is no “right” path in sobriety. If anyone has ever been made to feel like they are doing it wrong because they don’t subscribe to a certain method, that is not right. It is equally not cool to push a specific method on someone, and it likely would have about as much success as pushing religion on an atheist or vice versa. I can honestly say that I have never had a specific method pushed on me in this space, and I cannot imagine any of the people in this forum even doing that. If that has occurred, I am sorry to hear that because it is detrimental to sobriety and non productive for everyone.

The bottom line is this, we are all here to become better people in our respective lives. Dragging people down, criticizing, pointing fingers and arguing over inconsequential topics does nothing to foster an environment of recovery and a safe space for people to come to for support.

People need to stop the heated debates, no one gives a shit what process you use as long as you are coming here to help your fellow humans and receive support for your problems.

@Aoife_Humphreys You totally misinpreted my post. I dont care what path you take or anyone one takes to try to get sober. Honestly, I dont really care. I was not knocking Life Ring, I was just stating that it was very inconvenient for me to go to one of their meetings.

Whilst I can accept and respect why people don’t go to or even don’t like AA I always fail to understand why people would promote why it doesn’t work… I get it and I don’t have an issue with that and certainly don’t want an argument or to be taken out of context.

However, I am always concerned that someone who is struggling and considering going to AA might read things like this and decide not to go, and it might have been the very thing that saved his or her life as it might have worked for them. An addict at that tipping point is very vulnerable and the addict brain will search harder for reasons for carrying on than any sane part of their mind that still exists, things like this article might feed those thoughts and make them carry on and lead to much worse.

I support any way someone can achieve a healthy recovery and will promote all possible avenues, I would never wish to deter. I am an active member of AA and I am 100% sure it’s not the only route to sobriety but it is a route for some of us.

You just had to didn’t you?? This bull shit article has been posted like 5 times over the past couple years. I would just love to see where the person that wrote the article is today. I would be willing to bet my paycheck that they are still drinking

Gosh I hope they are! I had to edit my post cuz it sounded like I was betting the poster was drinking. No, I wish them all the best. I meant “journalist” that wrote the article

I honestly hope they did stay sober. I was typing in a title for my new thread and this popped up as a similar title. And I’m not trying to start anything, but I think it’s good for people to see that a lot of the original posters are still kicking ass.
