Keep relapsing but trying

I am finally at the point where I know I need to give up my addictions mainly meth. I just want to make sure I don’t relapse again after this! What works for other ppl to stay clean? I lost my kids a year ago and they are in foster care so I badly need to stay clean and get them back before its too late!

Drugs are terrible

I learned to hate them but also respect the control they have on me

Hi Kayla welcome to Talking Sober  :innocent:

What a heartbreaking situation :worried: In addiction we give up everything (including our families) for one thing (our addiction). In recovery, we give up one thing (addiction), and in return we get everything we need.

For me what helped was connecting with other people who knew about addiction recovery, and learning from them. I did an outpatient rehab and I joined a sobriety group (there’s a good list of groups here: Resources for our recovery). With time and effort, one day at a time, I learned to live (and grow!) without my addiction.

You can learn to live a healthy life (which means generally healthy and also addiction-free). Reach out to people who can teach you. Don’t give up.

Keep posting here on Talking Sober. Don’t be alone - you are never alone.

Hello!
I understand completely. It is, by far, one of the hardest things I have ever done, referring to being sober. The biggest thing to know is that you are NOT ALONE in this… at ALL. Isolation is the enemy in ALL cases and it is never good to let it go that route. It is easy to let it happen, and that is where our thoughts win over.
Keep posting, keep attending NA or a meeting of sorts. Keep track of your progress and maybe enroll in an Outpatient Rehab (I currently use ARC, where I live) and hold yourself accountable. It is truly the only way that I have stayed sober. Accountability and staying engaged in the active recovery.

Best of luck, and remember we are with you.
