Kratom? How to use , does it work , help

I need help. I’ve been struggling with Staying clean for several months now, want to use Kratom. Has anyone used it and actually had good results, and or how do I use it to (I hope to have no withdrawal )! I tried it and only made it a day and half (basically day two is where I start to struggle. I think it’s more in my head. But what is proper dosage and how often etc… comping off oxy. And benzo.

Kratom is amazing in my opinion. It significantly helped me get through heroin withdrawals and I still like to use it occasionally for things like menstrual cramps or chronic pain.

Things to know are that is that it is helpful to switch up strains and it shouldn’t be taken in replacement or long-term because you will definitely experience withdrawal if taken too often / consistently.

I am pretty low tolerance initially so I only take about 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon ( leaf )/ every 2-4 hours or so literally just mixing it with hot water. It doesn’t taste pleasant but I just chase it rather than ruin a perfectly good drink. Or if you prefer the capsules I take 2-4 again every 2-4 hours or so. I prefer the leaf because it is more immediate and I am more familiar with dosage and effects.

As far as strains go my favorites are Green Malay and Green Maeng Da. Thai and Bali are similar and but I prefer the first two mentioned. In smaller doses it can be euphoric and stimulating, in larger doses it can be much more sedating. I like that you can get both out of it.

If I’ve ever had such a mental addiction it is to opiotes, where if I even think about them and the opportunity too much the anticipation can become like withdrawal. I know how painful and difficult it can be but stay strong! Hope you find this helpul and it can give you some relief!

Forgot to mention, I wouldn’t advise taking it right before bed as you can get heartburn sometimes. It can make you really itchy if you take higher amounts, I don’t care for that so I avoid it. Also drink extra water!

The Kratom Bible is a great source for more info: https://ensobotanicals.com/kratom/

Best of luck!

When I was in active addiction I thought Kratom would be a great way to quite. Probably because it could still get me high. Looking back I am absolutely thrilled that I didn’t take it. My addict brain could tell me all sorts of crazy things, but really why would I think that doing my own taper schedule with another drug would have been any different that just using heroin. There’s plenty of other ways to get sober. Ways that don’t involve ordering a drug online that is unregulated.

From a public health perspective, it can be very dangerous. It is usually imported, and can come from sketchy places.

You need to learn to become comfortable being uncomfortable. Avoiding physical or emotional pain is a huge reason why we became and stayed addicted to our respective DOC’s.

If you need help, don’t look to shit off the street, or the internet. Talk to a medical professional. They can prescribe a course of treatment to get you clean safely, and monitor your progress.

But start by accepting the fact that you will be uncomfortable for a time. Relish every minute of it, and tell yourself this may be rough, but it will end, and you only have to go through it once…if you want it to be the last time.

I gotta agree with @Yoda-Stevie on this one. Physical withdrawal symptoms are temporary, albeit uncomfortable to experience. But that discomfort is critical in recovery. If I never had a hangover, I would likely never have the same level of distaste associated with drinking. Morphine came about as a cure for Opium addiction…heroin was in turn looked at as a replacement for Morphine after it too was identified to be too addictive…you get the point.

Self treatment of discomfort due to addiction withdrawal symptoms by self-medicating with Kratom which has opiate like actions on opioid receptors is just substitution of one DOC with another DOC…doesn’t matter if it is “natural” or not.

I will never forget how terrible my detoxes were. Stuff of nightmares really. Anytime I think it’s a good idea to go back out I can just remember laying on my couch in agonizing pain. Or being in rehab and not being able to sleep for 6 days. Or being so constipated that I needed prescription medicine to clear me out, then subsequently shitting my pants when the medicine took a hold. I will remember the nights I spent crying because I saw no end in sight. Then I will remember the relief I felt once I got through the detox and started working a program. Then I will remember how awesome my life became as a result of getting and staying sober.

I feel I should add that this is what worked for me and this far. I smoked heroin for almost 1 year and found this life saving going through withdrawal.

That being said, I can admit I may not be far along in recovery enough to have much of a valid or responsible opinion as far as long-term recovery goes, and I absolutely do not suggest replacing addictions as the risk is real and possible.

I absolutely agree with all the other comments on this thread, and feel like an enabler now… my apologies. Much to learn on this road.

“feel like an enabler now… much to learn on this road.”

Don’t be so hard on yourself, we all have much to learn. Each of us comes here for support, and we ask one another to share opinions…not necessarily facts. The two should not be confused. You shared a personal experience, your opinion based on your own reality. Nothing to be sorry about…this forum is for healthy discussion and debate.

“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.” Siddhartha Gutama

Unleash the magnesium citrate (Rx stength) they did. More like unleash the hounds of hell. Fuck. That. Noise. You know it’s going to be a rough day in rehab when they give you a 24 hour bed pass.

This is what I did; not saying it’s the best way. But, I went to an addiction specialist and they are working with me and monitoring my progress.
