Leaving 60 day program and going back home

I’m about to leave this 60 day program and go back home, where all those old habits started… Trying to stay optimistic but honestly I’m scared. Any words of encouragement or wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Also any good advice??

Hi @2ndChancer, welcome to our little corner of the Internet. It’s great to have you join us and see you post :+1:

I have personally never done an inpatient program, but I would hope that you have been working on building a set of tools that you can use to change how you respond/react to your home environment and the challenges that it clearly brings. If however you feel unprepared, I would discuss that with your health professionals to see if leaving now is the best solution.

Also, have you considered moving to a sober living environment? Hope that helps!

You have a great start. 60 days is nothing to sneeze at. Be proud of yourself.

Check in here or with like-minded people. Vent if you need to.

Stay positive. I’ve been sober for 349 days. It gets better with every passing day. You can do this

Welcome.

Always remember you are not alone.

I felt (and sometimes still feel) that way. For me what has helped is seeking a recovery community, which I have found in my SA program. There are twelve-step programs for everything, so if you check out www.AA.org or www.NA.org (or whichever other program may be appropriate for your addiction: Resources for our recovery), you will find one.

The fear, for me, was when I thought about “all that time”. But really the sobriety is in the moment to moment, in the present. I have learned that (and am still learning) through my recovery work in SA, including my sponsor, and through my counselling.

Remember: it’s one day at a time. Reach out to the people who know the road, who have found recovery, and learn from them.

Make meetings call your support group once you get numbers don’t be afraid to call them that’s why they give their numbers out see even when nothing’s going on you should give them a call because then when something is wrong it’s not so hard to pick up that phone people that don’t call and keep in touch tend to learn that when something happens the phone becomes a thousand pounds and they can’t pick it up and we all know what happens when we have nobody and we don’t talk about what’s bothering us you got this I have faith in you jist take it one day at a time also if you are gonna go anywhere tht might trigger you its smart to have a plan and ask your self why am i really going is it realy worth it and if something happens do i have a plan to exit i encourage that you stay away from them situations but life happens and sometimes we cant always do it so its just a little advice to help you out i dont have much clean time i have 50 days today but i will say my sponsor is a hell of a guy and i get all my wisdom from him and im 50 days clean amd sober as of today i will have 60 days on the 27th of December everyday is a win and im greatful to be in recovery
