I had 3 different places I used to hit, so I didn’t see the same people everyday.

Same! But rocking up to anyone of them at 6. 30am for a bottle of vodka gave away the fact that was an alcoholic, so i might as well have not bothered, it made me feel better about it at the time though

Funnily enough, i love it when i go into my local shop now and when they’re done scanning everything they will ask “anything else??” And almost hold their breath… These days i get to say “no thats all thanks ” rather than “a litre bottle of vodka please” then walk out feeling ashamed.

I have a 87 mile commute… I had to pass up lots of beer stores. In the beginning i had to fight to get by every single one of them.

This was the absolute worst. And I would be half shot in the ass from the night before, and from the beer I had in my Contigo coffee cup,and just looking around at the normal people out doing their grocery shopping at 7:00 in the morning and thinking what the fuck is wrong with me. You’re doing great Jen. :v:

Oh, boy…guilty as charged! I had two or three favourite stores I frequented that were just right down the road from home. My nightly habit was to stop in after work for a half pint, park in a discreet spot and chug it down quick before going on home.

I remember scraping up change from a piggy bank to buy some $2 rotgut vodka. Tasted like crap, too.

Same same, 3-4 different places. I remember sitting in the parking lot of the drive through at 8 am waiting for one car or one person to go first so I wasn’t the first one to buy booze. Meanwhile the world around was walking dogs, getting to work, doing errands. I remember just thinking to myself, how long you gonna do this for? Wtf is wrong with me.

Don’t miss those days one bit! :pray:t3:

No open container laws here, I would leave work, buy a can of hard lemonade to drink on the train, buy another for the next train and a couple for when I got home. Living where I do with 24hr alcohol serving convenience stores on every corner, there are 5 or 6 places to get alcohol a 10 minute bike ride away if I wanted more after, and I usually did. What a mess my life was then.

Great job in fixing that problem.:+1::ok_hand::muscle::checkered_flag:

Liquor stores were the hardest thing for me in the beginning. Or, I guess, getting in my car and not ending up there. That’s pretty much all I thought about, period. When and where I was able to get more. It was my first stop when leaving the hospital after my daughter was born. Didn’t even take her home first. And again when probation took my alcohol ankle monitor off, except I couldn’t drink it immediately bc I still had a breathalyzer in my car.

I didn’t care if the employees saw me everyday, only if they saw me twice a day. For some reason that is what was unacceptable to me  So I had 5+ in rotation. And there sure were some days I’d go to every one of them. Of course the employees were already getting my usual before I even stepped through the door.

I’d make sure I had enough time to stop at the one that closed earlier, before work. Then made sure I got out by 9:55 to make it to the one on my way home before it closed at 10. I’d do laundry at different mats bc they were closer to a store. I’d make excuses we needed something for the house just so I could go out, and hope I didn’t forget to grab whatever item I came up with.

I could go on and on with this topic but I won’t. It’s not something I think about anymore  and I’m grateful for that
