You know what, maybe I will have a look and see today where the word country came from… could be related to counties but could be something else.
Fun relevant fact: Counts and countesses historically ran counties, often answering to dukes or duchesses who governed duchies, but sometimes directly to a monarch instead. For whoever wanted to fill in those blanks…
Also empress is a kickass word and I’m disappointed it didn’t get written on that blackboard.
