Anxiety is no joke and being uncomfortable around people where you feel like everyone can tell only makes anxiety worse! Ug. I feel you. I’m sorry you had to go through that. Thank you! Yeah, they definitely noticed. And for people who have anxiety too… they didn’t seem to catch onto cues. Whatever, lesson learned. Work friends it is. I’ll just stay a hermit haha but yes, you get it! Anxiety sucks.

Hi friends I wanted to share with you an activity that was given to me in treatment years ago. Thought it might help someone who is struggling. Its called a comfort box. A Comfort box is a container where you keep a collection of items that will help you deal with stress and difficult emotions. It can be a place where you put treasured items that remind you of people, places or things that bring you comfort. I use it (or try to use it lol) when I’m down or feeling anxious especially. I try to incorporate the 5 senses into it. Here’s some things in my comfort box to give you an idea:
SIGHT
A string of battery operated string lights
Pictures of calming sceneries
Daily reflections book
TASTE
Cinnamon gum
SMELL
Lavender aromatherapy
Sage that I burn to cleanse and pray
TOUCH
Amethyst crystal
Sobriety chip
SOUND
Soothing nature sounds cd
Aboriginal drumming

I agree with the others…normal is overrated. But I do understand about just wanting to feel ‘settled’ and okay in our skin. I get freaked out in groups sometimes too, it is okay. Lots of people have anxiety and socializing issues…likely some of them may have been feeling similarly. Hugs.
