All time favorite Thing Lizzy song. Maybe not metal in the “traditional” sense, but it’s heavy, and definitely heavy for Thin Lizzy.
Trying real hard to be accepting of this sober gift that I really didn’t probably want on max volume without joining my husband who is wasted… I seen it coming I guess… I just got mixed up and picked a very bad week to quit smoking among other said stupid … Sometimes you gotta drive yourself in life if you ain’t got a wing man… Just how is…
Will I wake up
Is it a dream I made up
No I guess it’s reality
What will change us
Or will we mess up
Our only chance to connect
With a dream
Say a prayer for me
I’m buried by the sound
In a world of human
Wreckage
I’m lost and I’m found
And I can’t touch the
Ground
I’m plowed into the sound
To see wide open
With a head that’s broken
Hang a life on a tragedy
Plow me under the ground
That covers the message
That is the seed
Sleep sounds thankful that I did not take the first sip into destruction although I had to mix drinks all night long… This MthrFkn sober of mine… 64 day’s onward…
Mixing things up a bit.
That’s cool thanks
I love metal and punk rock, I’m finding in my sobriety that hatebreed has allot of uplifting lyrics about overcoming problems. Actually allot of metal music doesn’t speak to much on alcohol or drug use, suppose that’s why I’ve always loved it.
Hatebreed definitely has that. Another band to check out in that vein is Terror. Lots of lyrics about staying true to yourself, your friends, your family/overcoming adversity/strength in community/etc…
If you’re looking for heavy bands that speak out directly against alcohol and drug use, and the dangers they present, check out Earth Crisis, especially the albums Gomorrah’s Season Ends, Destroy the Machines, and Breed the Killers.
Edit to add:
A song straight up about alcohol addiction.
I’ve been listening to a lot of early-ish Manson recently. Imagine my parents horror when I came home aged 12 with a sickly smile and the “Antichrist Superstar” album clutched between my fingers
I’ve always had a soft spot for Manson. Not a fan of his entire catalog, but there are some definite jams in there.
It’s like a mix of Twitching Tongues meets 90s hardcore.
THRASH

Hope y’all like this.
Man, Got To Give It Up is a rocker! Really, their whole discography is.
