Though arguably one of the most revolutionary scientific discoveries of the century, Einstein did not win the Nobel Prize for his theory of relativity. He won it for the photoelectric effect describing the conversion of photons into electrons.

This still bothers me.

Is this some sort of obscure Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy reference? Like 42 or something?

Negative. They weighed a body immediately after death on more than one occasion and it was 21 grams less Immediately after death.
I wasn’t there when they weighed the people but it’s a fun little fact.

Apr. 8th mind blowing random thought of the day: The record for a cat surviving a fall is from 43 stories high.

Is that enough for a falling cat to reach terminal velocity? In that case, it could be that falling from the Burj Khalifa or even a plane would be survivable, provided they didn’t hit anything along the way and had a favourable landing? The trouble is cats don’t often fall from those naturally, so it would take a long time to gather data without serious ethical violations.

12 seconds is generally the time of fall required to reach terminal velocity, or about 450 meter/1500 feet.
