There’s a place here in Salt Lake City, Utah that has amazing poutine. One of my favorites.

Squeaky authentic cheese curds are essential. Not as good as shredded cheese :canada: mmm now I want poutine. Does this place have curds? Hopefully you get the chance to try them. So good!

Dec. 28th mind blowing random thought of the day: Movie previews are called “trailers” because they were originally shown at the end, usually after a cliffhanger in order to tease the next film in the series.

Dec. 31st mind blowing random thought of the day: President Ulysses S. Grant’s real name was Hiram Ulysses Grant, but was mistakenly entered into West Point Military Academy by Ohio Congressman Thomas L. Hammer with the incorrect name, who accidentally wrote in the maiden name of Grant’s mother “Simpson.” Grant, however, liked the name change because it gave him the initials U.S. and so decided to keep it throughout the remainder of his life.

Jan. 1st mind blowing random thought of the day: Most of the people of Afghanistan share January 1st as their birthday because they don’t actually know when their real birthday is due to the constant shifts of governments and loss of paperwork. After the Soviets invaded in 1979 to prop up the country’s communist government, after the U.S. got involved in 1986, after the Soviets pulled out in 1988, after years of civil war, and after the 2001 invasion by the U.S. Army, many Afghans stopped paying attention to or keeping official records of things like their birthdays. So when U.S. bureaucracies started asking for birthdays, they simply picked the first day of the year.

Jan. 2nd mind blowing random thought of the day: Almost all mammals live for about 1 billion heartbeats, and life expectancy is determined based on how quickly a particular animal reaches that number. However, thanks to modern medicine, food preservation technology, and water purification, most humans have been able to survive past the 2 billion mark.

Also, y’all realize that we are basically as close to 2050 as we are to 1990?

The term “bootlegger” evolved from Maine in the 1850s when its governor was the first to attempt prohibition in the country. Due to the banning of alcohol in the state men would stand on street corners with pint bottles tucked into their pant cuffs next to their boots and sell nips to people passing by. It was a rather lucrative business considering most men in those days were used to having their first drink of the day with breakfast.
