Morning routines anyone?!

What are your new morning routines?

-coffee/meditate
-morning dog walk
-AA toolkit app
-email family
-read ‘on awakening prayer’
-read third step
-read seventh step
-read 12 step
-read prayer of st francis
-read Thomas merton prayer
-maybe get on Sober Talk before heading out to work.

I use a journal called ‘the morning sidekick journal’ which can be found on amazon.

-detox tea…this is my favorite (then coffee!)
-walk my dog
-meditation
-sometimes stretching or yoga
-make a list for the day

0400: Alarm goes off. Get up, kneel and pray the Lord’s Prayer. Make my side of the bed.

0405: feed my cat, Vader, her first meal.

0410: make coffee, read, take care of bio-business.

0500-0630: train in my garage fight-gym, The Brojo.

0630-0645: Eat breakfast.

0645-0730: shower and dress

0730: at my home office desk, or hit the road.

Weekends are much the same, except 0730 I am tending my garden or some home project.

☆ Check email and TS
☆ Run or hit a HIIT class

-Wake up and have a protein bar
-Walk the dogs for at least a mile, 2 miles if it isn’t too hot.
-Workout at home since gyms are still closed
-Drink a protein shake
-Coffee

The rest just depends on the day and what needs to be done, but it doesn’t involve drinking anymore!!

-Wake 4:45-5am
-Check messages in bed/surf a few minutes
-Make the coffee, hubby’s breakfast & lunch
-Hubby leaves, I get little guys breakfast and play with bunny
-Zoom meeting most mornings
-Pack little guys lunch & drive off to camp for him, off to work for me

not new, but here is mine:

  • make my bed
  • get water boiling for coffee
  • feed guinea pig
  • make sure my dog has full water bowl
  • flip through emails and texts
  • pour coffee
  • watch morning news or show i didnt finish last night
  • get dressed and face washed
  • dog walk

i thrive on routines! :sparkling_heart:

Me too. you should read ‘the power of habit’. You can basically hack your life with habitual positive routines.

That’s awesome. I also love my mornings now. There was never a good morning when I was drinking, now that I’ve actually lived the good ones.

What helped you stick to the routine?

That’s my internal clock for many many years lol. I can’t imagine sleeping in until 7 or 8am. Maybe when I’m retired! :joy:

I like building routines slowly. I am a firm believer in baby steps. I don’t beat myself up if my body says sleep in or no running today…I have learned to listen and trust myself. Now that I don’t drink, I no longer lie to myself. I know my truth and I respect and listen to my body mind and soul…I treated my self so poorly for so long…treating myself with loving kindness and compassion keeps me happy and healthy. My morning routine helps sustain that. :heart:

Get up with hubby 4:45 -5:00. Oil pull for 10 minutes, then drink 8 oz. warm water with lemon and apple cider vinegar. Then enjoy my Bullet proof coffee!. Watch the news, read emails morning yoga. Gym late morning for an hour!
