I have intentionally dedicated time each day lately to play guitar and / or fiddle and noticed that I seem to get lost from the outside world while playing and exploring the instruments.
I’m curious if anyone else in the community plays musical instruments and have found the same to be true or gained some other benefit that contributes to your recovery?
If not a musical instrument? What is your goto therapeutic activity that allows you to draw peace and joy?
Just recorded a cover version of The Cure’s “Boys Don’t Cry”, finally finished it after a bad drinking streak around my birthday and didn’t touch any alcohol since.
I went to see The Cure last June in Seattle and the merch lines were ridiculously long, so my daughter baught me a shirt from them online, it showed up yesterday!
Ifs- I’ve been having the same issues myself. I’m a musician (piano/keyboards/bass) but haven’t sat down and played for a few months. Evidently this is common when you’re dealing with depression…you lose motivation and interest in things. I hate that, too, because this is the only real hobby I have. You’re not alone. I hope you get inspired again soon…and feel better.
