That’s a great Josh. Love it!
You guys did an amazing job! As always!
Or even sing, too bad for my neighbours! Any musicians? I play violin a bit, just as a hobby
That’s awesome! Music is just such a great activity. Like, for me, I can adapt it to whatever I need. I can challenge myself or just go easy depending on how I’m feeling. It can be recreational or therapeutic or artistic development. I find it really hard to get myself going sometimes, but I never regret the time I spend.
Actually, I’ve been feeling recently this urge to go back and revisit some of my compositions, but I’ve been putting it off. Thanks for reminding me!
And yes, there is a thread! It ebbs and flows, but people do tend to come back and check it when there is new activity. There’s a lot of cool stuff people have posted in there already.
this is truly awesome motivation! hope you do pick it up!
Not trumpet maybe but I would to get a viola and blow some steam with its obscure and heavy sound
I have a 5-string electric violin. The 5th makes the lower end include the viola range, so it has elements of both instruments, which I really like. Of course it doesn’t have the same body resonance due to the size, but as an electric it will be different anyways.
I love the trumpet so. but yeah. enjoy yourself!
I’d LOVE to see more of our music in here! This week I’ve been getting the urge to cut my nails again and pick up my guitar. Thanks for the reminder as it’s been a few days since I’ve thought about it!
Great to “see” you James!!!
I love this Ray! Lovely collection
I play the 12 string and the 6 now and again my capo s makes it hard now and again the uke is hard with my big hands ,{life time of landscaping lol } did a couple songs on the AA group page ,good for the soul
For the past 2 years, I’ve been playing in a Thai folk band, since then I’ve performed at the Seattle Folklife festival twice, and two other festivals as well as a couple of other events. This is a pretty big for me because I have huge performance anxiety since getting sober.
Anyhow, this is a cover song that we recorded, one that we’ve played at said festivals. I am playing the drums. This song was written by a Thai rock band in the 80’s.
Ahhh Dan this is so fun! I love it! And your growth, it’s always super inspiring my friend.
Yall, soon I wanna buy an electric guitar and learn how to make metalcore or post-hardcore music. Anyone know what equipment and software would I need besides an electric guitar to do this? Is it possible to play an electric guitar through headphones?
I always wanted to be able to play in a metalcore or post-hardcore band one day. That would be like a dream come true. I wanna be a rockstar and play at concerts one day!!! :DDD
Manz is currently like all software development and fitness skills. But I wanna actually learn something art/music related. Thanks
To learn guitar, the minimum is just a guitar!
But guitar and amp would be the more realistic minimum. Then lessons! You CAN self learn, but lessons will get you where you want to go a lot faster.
As far as making/recording/producing music at home, you need a computer, an audio interface and some software. My first interface was about $80 & the software was free. I recorded probably 100 songs that way.
You can certainly play through headphones. There’s software, like Bias Amp 2 that allows you to pretty have any amp at your fingertips. There’s also amp simulator pedals you can use headphones with. Lots of solutions there.
Playing in a band is pretty rad. I’ve played in a hard rock band when I was in my 30’s. Now I play in a Thai band, playing festivals and stuff.
Music has been a great hobby for me and i’ll encourage anyone who is remotely interested to pick up an instrument and give it a go because, what if you are the next Eddie Van Halen or Dime Bag Darrell? Never know until you try!
Equipment:
- You don’t need an amp, but it is nice to have in case you want to play when it isn’t connected to your computer, or when your computer is off, or when you don’t want your music software running. Most small amps these days have a headphone jack if you don’t want to use the amp speaker. An entry-level amp may run you between CAD $50-100.
- If you want the sound to go into your computer, you need an audio interface for that. It’s basically a box that will plug in to your USB (rarely Firewire) port, and contain at least one port for your guitar to plug into (some have microphone hookups as well). It will receive the electrical signal from your guitar and pass it on to the computer in a way it can understand. Entry-level audio interface will probably be in the CAD $100-200 range.
- Software: there’s a lot of options. Which to use depends on what you want to do. Some are very feature dense with steep learning curves, geared towards professional audio production, and some are more simplified. I don’t have a great grasp on what’s available these days, or what to recommend, because I just use what I am used to using.
