My name is Nderingo. I am from Tanzania in East Africa. I started drinking beer when I was 15. It all started when I with aglass and latter one I hraduated to a bottle and the story goes on until I couldn`t count the number of bottles I had.
I came to realize that I had a problem when I was an undergrad where I failed to pass a course and I had to sit for a supplementary exam. I saw the devastation my parents had aince I used to be all good when it came to academics. I have really tried to stop but failed as many times as much I can’t remember now. I have had 3 car accidents, placed under custody all because of alcoholism.
The lord has been too good to me. And inspite of my ups and down I have been able to secure a good job. I work as a civil engineer in a consulting firm. I know if I quit today, only the sky is the limit for me. Am scared if i continue down this road my lords grace will stop and i might end up losing the small dignity I still have.
I have been able to not drink in all days of the week except the weekends. On friday I get relapses and I can’t help myself. My goal is to count my weekends and I hope withyour help and encouragement I will make it.
@Ndery
welcome and thanks for sharing your story!
Your making a step in the right direction and you are definitely among friends here.
it’s really nice to read that you are thankful for the things you do have because that can come in handy when the going gets rough…focus on those things that make you happy and believe you can push through the thing(s) that dont.
were all here for you and we believe you can!
@Ndery Thanks for sharing your story! Hang in there, you can do it! The Lords grace will always be with you! Listen to these 3 scriptures:
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not by yourselves, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2Corinthians 12:9)
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:16)
Hope you find encouragement in the truth, the way, and the life! Have a blessed day sister! Hugs
Thanks for the scriptures, i am going to read them.
This forum is like a wonderland for me and a place I call home since all of us can relate to one another and all of us have one goal!
Thanks bro…Iam doing my best though I fail at times but what am glad is I fill bad abt it…just out of curiousity, how long did it take for your brain to heal?( to start remembering again) am also at that stage and it scares the shit out of me
@Ndery
Never really "healed"
My short term memory is still random, my long term gets worse with the years and i have a lot of Trouble focusing on tasks.
Its definitley a lot better now that i don’t drink anymore, when i would drink i would totally black out and not remember anything from the day before…which was really scary!
