Good for you. @Its_me_Stella suggested organic applesauce for a sweet treat about 9 months ago. I bought some and I haven’t had one of them yet I can send them to ya they’re still good
I like the dried Mango bites I found a Whole Foods. I can’t find them anywhere else. But again I tend to binge on them. So I’m going without.
I’m actually not a big fan of applesauce. We have apple trees and I can a bunch of applesauce but I give most of it away and only keep a few jars in case I get sick. It is my favorite on toast when I’m sick oddly enough.
Mango sounds so good! I just really love fresh fruit and gotta get back to eating more of it.
Made it through day 1. We went to the movies today and we always get popcorn or nachos and 1 coke to share. I normally just have a sip here and there but not today!!! It’s going to be hard to break that habit. I don’t drink soda by myself but if the hubs is drinking one I’ll have a sip. Luckily I had a big bottle of water so I made it through.
Reset- I have to figure out a balance because my protein pancakes mix has added sugar and these peanut butter crackers I eat. I think at least for the time being I need to allow for a small amount of wiggle for those items. That’s not the reset though. I had some soda. We only have water and coke in the house because I need to go to the store. Going tomorrow to the grocery store and hopefully will find some sugar free stuff for me. I generally drink water but I do like something flavored sometimes. I normally would have gotten some almond milk. Anyway, going to the store will get me prepared. No more putting off going to the store
I’d definitely give yourself some wiggle room. But cut out the white chocolate .
But seriously. I wasn’t reading labels and shit when I first started. Just gave up the desserts. Chocolates, cakes pies. Cookies and other munchies like that. And no ice cream or gelatos. And I never drank sodas. I wish I could have a ginger ale once and awhile but it’s definitely a sugar thing. If a recipe calls for sugar I just put a pinch. My smoothie are all natural sugars from fruit. No added sugars. So I do read those labels.
As I was telling Jess @anon9289869 i like those Mango bites. I rather have fresh fruit too. But for an after dinner treat a few mango bites and sometimes those Russell Stover no sugar candies do the trick for me. They are just dried mango. It’s got 23 grams of sugar. But no added sugar.
There are fires all over the place! Last I knew they weren’t very close to us. The big one is up north and we are more southeast. We are going on vacation this coming week to Ruidoso and I hope it doesn’t affect us there but I think it’s still pretty north from there as well. We can’t see any smoke or smell anything but it sure is hot as hell. High 90s all week. Not sure if that’s related lol
I guess I was just being extra I was trying to be super duper committed but in all seriousness by looking at the labels I realized I don’t eat that much added sugar so if I can just kick this very small soda habit I’ll be fine in my book.
They got so many flavors. It more fruit forward than the LaCroix. I’m hooked on their new one. Pink Lemonade. 0 sugar 0 calories. Ya I hear that soda habit can be hard to break. There’s so many sparkling water alternatives out there these days.
I’m glad your not near the fires. I fear it’s gonna be a long fire season. We already had 2 in Flag.
I know Ruidoso. Never been. But I know where it is. Spent a couple of nights in Cloud Croft looking at real estate. I actually think I mentioned that to ya when we first met on here for some reason. We settled on Amarillo We had also looked in Las Cruces. Beautiful places there. I saw the fires were in Taos? Have fun this weekend. Send pics.
It has been 11 days for me without sugar. I had a 2-month stretch in winter but gave up eventually. After that I was able to use it pretty much moderately, but still felt, that 1, it was not good for my body, my insulin level fluctuated too much, 2, I still ’used’ sweet food not ’enjoying’ it, 3, I could slip back into unhealthy overeating anytime. So now I’m back on track, I have cravings, but I feel better all in all.
Today is day 5. Y’all talking about reading labels yesterday had me analyzing all of my foods. I generally don’t eat a lot of package/processed foods so I had thought just cutting out the obvious sweets would be sufficient.
Pleasantly surprised to find there’s little to no added sugar in the foods I eat but a little worried about stevia consumption. I didn’t realize it was in my preworkout, protein powder, electrolytes, and one of my protein bars. Going to start trying to cut back on these, look at alternatives, and get rid of the preworkout and protein bars all together. They were a lazy habit I started when I was training for day across minnesota in 2020 and I did not mean for them to be a part of my diet this long.
Makes an executive decision between twins and says, “Yes Stella, yes you can!”
I reset yesterday after buying a bag of gummies. Not the prepackaged one with a ton in it, you know because I am controlling my behavior… . I only had 15 gummies… Who am I kidding, really?
I managed 72 days sugar free up until I went to that Christmas thing on Salts Spring in Dec. I made all the toppings for the hot chocolate bar and I didn’t touch any of it. When I got to the event on the last day I had a hotchocolate and pfffft that was fucking IT! I was on like Donkey Kong… binging all the toppings from the bar it was pure insanity and a grim glimpse into what a substance relapse would look like from me. I have never been " one shot Wanda", I wouldn’t have a Radler and call it a relapse. Nope I would be hospitalized or dead.
Anyways because of the ED and how touchy restriction can be for me I decided not to restrict sugar. I am proving to myself that it just can not be done this way though. I am addicted to it, I can’t say no. All my calories end up being ingested in sugar.
Accept that my life is unmanageable… does eating dry hot chocolate power to get sugar fix or pouring honey down your gullet count as unmanageable? I am going to say yes. I already know that I am powerless over my addict so… there is that too.
Look at my stuffs!! I get tired of gum chewing so I do life savers but got these werthers instead. And don’t judge me lol but I love capri suns and kool aid jammers so yay for a sugar free option. No idea what it will taste like but I figured it worth a try
My problem is the binging as well. Last night I ate 5 of my sugar free Stovers. That’s kind of a bing for me anyway. I hate to fight the urge to not eat more. I bought the big bag. If I know me I’ll eat that bag pretty quickly before the week is out. Then I won’t buy it again for awhile. I’m blaming the move. And I passed on the fortune cookie again last night.
Thanks.
I was actually scrolling to see when I posted my 9 months I hadn’t. I usually wait for you and post the next day. You beat me too it. Thank you. But today is your day. Congratulations on 9 months of sobriety
