I also see u made ur timer as no Xtra sugar… what does this mean for u? Can u have some sugar? Say the ones found naturally in fruits?
7 months.
That goal thing always confuses me too.
I just had to stop substituting chocolate and sugar for booze. I figured I got about a year and a half under my belt and it was time to stop binging on chocolate and gelato and cookies etc…. And I was getting headaches.
So I gave up what I call extra added sugar. Like dessert especially. Cookies. Chocolate, gelatos and ice cream, cheesecake. You’re killing me here I’d kill for a good New York cheeses cake. . I don’t worry about carbs. I feel I have a pretty good rounded diet. If something in a recipe calls for sugar, like a teriyaki marinade, or some other Asian dish I don’t worry about it. My smoothies have no added sugar. Just natural sugar from fruits. So I kind of just made up my own thing so I don’t substitute sweets for booze anymore. And I feel great about that too. But I had to wait until I had some time under my belt. Better to be eating chocolate and/or gelato than drinking martinis and wine when I first started.
Okay I think I get what ur saying. I’m so used to just quitting it all… like for addictions to drugs or alcohol, u just don’t pick up any. But food is diff in a sense I guess bcuz we do need food to survive. So maybe I need to look and my eating situation and develop a “plan”. Cuz it is bad more often than not it’s a tough one for me for sure. And it impacts huge areas of my life some days along with increasing cravings to use. Thanks for help Eric!
I’m proud of you.
Hey Twinnie
I reckon I can’t eat my fortune cookie from my Chinese take out can I?
I forgot to tag you @Its_me_Stella on this yesterday
No wonder I didn’t get a ruling
Never mind. Sugar was the second ingredient on the little wrapper. But my fortune said
“if I’m not timid there’s excitement in my future.”
I don’t think I can take much more excitement
Still no sugar.
I’m joining you over here now Eric! Over indulged the past two days on cheesecake from my dads birthday. Woke up with a headache from it this morning. Today is Day 1 for me of no added sugar.
Welcome aboard. It was the sugar headaches that were getting me. At least I think that’s what it was. And when there’s dessert, I always over indulge. It’s horrible.
I was thinking about this thread the other day. I don’t want to cut out all sugar because I like a small bit in my coffee but I’ve been eating so many processed foods with added sugar and need to cut those out. Tomorrow I shall hop on the brand wagon.
I got too lazy to put cream and or sugar in my coffee. Been drinking black forever. I try not to eat too much processed food but I don’t worry about that.
Now that lovely gelato you turned me on too I’m happy I can’t remember the name. I was eating 2 or 3 of those a week easy. And with cookies
I don’t really miss any of those desserts and sweets. I’ve been substituting some of the Russell Stover’s sugar free chocolates. I feel like I’m cheating.
But then I go ahead and binge on those
So I basically cut those out too.
That’s my problem. The binging. The gelato I do decent and I normally get 3 servings out of it but cookies or ice cream cones (the ones with ice cream in them with nuts on them) I eat them all Like no control
Holy moly sugar is definitely addicting — the restless feeling and compulsive thoughts today were the same as giving up everything else in the past. I had forgotten how bad it can be. I napped and watched so much tv today.
This didn’t go as planned at all. I had breakfast and was doing good. The hubs wanted sonic for lunch. I got some chicken BUT got a Reese’s shake It was good but my resolve was non existent. How do you go out to dinner ALL THE TIME @Dazercat and not get dessert?
Did you get the shits?
Should of got the Limeade
I don’t know. I just got tired of it. I was the big dessert eater in our family. And always cleaned my plate and that went for desserts too. Get a few meals without dessert under your belt and you’ll feel better physically and mentally. And again too much sugar was giving me a headache.
Maybe like when I quit smoking. I kept track of all my cigs starting on a Monday know I was going to quit the following Monday. Pick a date. Get your cheesecakes and Blizzards and Gelatos in and say good bye to them. Just like drinking. It got easier.
Hope I’m stronger now Eric, but here I go again: day1
Hope to get where you are some day
Starting day 1 again. I added a counter for it just now also
2 full successful days sugar free. Today is day 3. Every time I found myself wanting to reach for sweets yesterday I ate apple slices instead.
@Dazercat this 100% is me. My mum gets real dramatic and gives me the biggest portions like it’s a challenge and then acts surprised when I finish it. It was always the same way with alcohol too. Good ole addict brain.
