Checking in 3.5 days sugar free!!!

My bf and I are on equal days, he is quitting cigars and I am quitting sugar. Last night he said " I though of you today, I was reading up on sugar addiction and how difficult it is to give up. Studies have proven its comparible to heroin."

I can feel that.

4 days in my pocket, happy with that. Thought my operation is a good start to eat healthier. So more fruits en vegetables. And the “sugarthing” ofcourse. Focussing on stuff that really helps my body recover from the surgery.
So used the app MyFitnessPal again to record what I eat during the day.
I’m motivated, that’s good!
Now hope I feel better soon

Hey everyone! Thanks Eric @Dazercat for the idea to check out this thread! Sugar is brutal for me. It’s a hard one for me to completely get rid of and I am wondering about substitutions for sugar in coffee or snacks etc. I’m not sure where to begin with this but I’m trying to be healthier, exercise, and sugar cravings are baaaaad :frowning:

I got some sugar free candies that I love. (Posted a pic above) also fruit is normally my go to. I’m trying to get better about giving in so easily

:astonished::grimacing: I’m sorry…

Day 13
Chillin with my dad at the laundromat, dude keeps buying candy & cookies from the vending machine. First he got a mini pack of Oreos and I almost forgot I’m doing no sugar and caught myself about to grab one. :woman_facepalming:t2:

That’s how my sugar strikes ended most of the time: I forget I have quit sugar and eat it because it’s my habit I guess. I tend to forget.
Strange, because I never forget I quit alcohol.
Glad you remembered on time! Almost 2 weeks for you! Wow!

Ps, 1 week for me

Was that good? I saw that brand recently and thought about trying it but just wasn’t sure

It’s a bit different, but not bad. The cookie dough chunks had a kind of odd taste to them that I noticed more than the ice cream itself.

I’m not big on ice cream with chunks so I’d probably opt for a different flavor. I’ve tried Halo and it was ok. I might see what flavors that brand offers next time I go to the store

Hey all!
Man I really need this thread so I’m joining in. Sugar has crept it’s way into my life and I’m just not ok with it  I never had a ‘sweet tooth’ before but now I cant stop :grimacing: it doesn’t help that in rehab EVERYONE is eating sweets (jellys, chocolate, cakes ) and all passing them around the group during breaks so even when I’m trying to be good and not buy/eat them sometimes the temptation is too strong when they’re constantly in my face… and you know how it goes, once you have one you want them all!!
But I have to be stronger than this and break the habit… I’ve already eaten plenty of sugar today so tomorrow will have to be my start day… expecting headaches for the next 3 days

I do not want to discourage you, but be aware that your sweeth tooth is normal when you are in the beginning of your recovery. Your body is craving the sugars it used to get trough his addiction. It will be very harsh to quit your addiction and at the same time quit the sugar thing as well.
For me the sugar was even a life savior for my recovery. When I had cravings for alcohol I ate chocolat.
When I had more sober days under my belt I reduced my sugar intake a bit but kept it as a plan B instead of drinking.
Being sober is my nr 1 priority.
I do not wanna tell you what to do. Just wanted to share how it was for me. Good luck with it all! :four_leaf_clover::heavy_heart_exclamation::four_leaf_clover:
