No More Added Sugar

That does sound reasonable, especially the headaches out of hell. Glad you are feeling better this time!

I’m back . Day 1 no sugar. There are homemade brownies in the fridge and I will get them into freezer. Ice cream in the freezer but it’s ok. Really interesting when restricting sugar I am strong to not indulge in those treats.

Day 2 no sugar. What a difference in my control. Sugar is a drug.

Great job! I’m so happy you’re doing this :muscle::partying_face::partying_face:

Sugar really truly is a drug, and a sinister one. There’s no dogma, it’s cheap, and it’s not only easily available but excessively added in to all sorts of foods, even in some tunas. One day it’ll be considered as one and people will be shocked by how much of it we added to everything that comes in a package these days. I read a paper a while ago where the research showed how sugar addiction in the brain is almost identical to alcohol addiction. And according to Dr. Lustig’s research, the fructose part of the molecule cannot be metabolized by every cell like glucose can be, and it is only metabolized by the liver, just like alcohol, which is why they both cause fatty liver. My apologies for the rant. This used to be an obsession of mine

7 days no added sugar. I did exceed my carbs 1 day but avoided sugar. Also did have a scoop of ice cream with no added sugar so feel good. I am really trying to make lifestyle changes and not look at this as a short term goal.

That is amazing! Great job. After such a long time, what has changed?

Thank you.
Not sure what has changed. Not much I feel. Still feel like I’m cheating because I do eat some chocolate and found some cookies without refined sugar. And I do eat those. Can’t remember what they are sweetened with maybe agave or real maple :man_shrugging:

But I’m happy I no longer crave or want desserts after a meal so that nice. And like booze I have a healthy fear if I start up again with ice cream or gelato I would definitely overindulge and probably make myself sick.

I keep thinking after a year I still want a piece of carrot cake :squinting_face_with_tongue: But when I get a streak going I sure hate to break it. Guess I’ll just have to wait until my next European vacation.

And I do feel good about my weight. It’s been easier to maintain at my goal weight.

Thanks for asking.

Yes, it is true. I have been free of sugar and its awful consequences for body and mind for 1.5 years. I am very proud of it and very greatful for the peace this brings me.
