I donāt like using chat gbt but thought I would give it a shot as Iāve heard it can help formulate workouts based on individual needs / restrictions.
I asked for alternative exercises to Russian twists when dealing with bad backs and abdominal nerve damage. Thought these may be helpful to others too ..
Dead Bug
- Lie on your back, knees above hips
- Opposite arm + leg extend slowly
- Keep core tight and back flat
GREAT for stability and doesnāt stress the spine.
Bird Dog
- From hands/knees, extend opposite arm + leg
- Hold a second, switch sides
Strengthens deep core muscles + improves balance.
Modified Plank (Knees Down)
- Engage abs gently, avoid sagging hips
You can progress to full plank later if comfortable.
Heel Slides
- On your back, slide one heel out + back
Works lower abs without strain.
Seated Knee Lifts
- Sit straight in a chair, lift one knee at a time
Good if floor work is tough right now.
Glute Bridge
- Lift hips with core + glutes engaged
Supports lower back strength.
Dead bug is a great ab exercise.
